There is a cat on the railway my oh goes to called hymek, he has been there for years and the members sort of adopted him, Oh found out today that he had gone to the vets and may have detached retinas, he also has high blood pressure, he still gets around but cant see well. The vet said that they can give him tablets for the blood pressure and this may sort out his eyes , if not he may have to be put to sleep. I would love to bring him to live with me but I'm not sure if he would get on with my cats or if they would get on with him. Another thought is if he is not able to see well it might be worse moving him. Sorry for going on don't know what to do for the best.
Regards Karen

Depends on your cats karenwl. Mine were very clique being related but as they got older like human beanz they mellowed and allowed bagpuss some space! They'll never be best friends but they still look for one another.
I hope the wee cat will be ok.

They are brothers Jenny, and usually get on very well its so warm in the PT there is usually one or the other in there snoozing, if they can find some space they soon move when I get the watering can out though. I have had to put sticks over my fleece covered seed trays in the past to deter them as they find them rather comfortable. My other cat sleeps on the shelf below in amongst the seed trays.

my cat Dabs used to bring home baby rabbits and eat them which then made sense of why she never ate the food I put out.
Anyway, can't remember if I've told you this before but I'll tell you again. One day she came trotting down the path with one in her mouth, still alive. When she'd put it down, I picked her up, shut her in the house and shooed the rabbit away back into the field at the back of the house.
Just as I was feeling all good about myself, some crows swooped down and started pecking it to death. I was absolutely mortified.
I guess it was a case of final destination for that rabbit though, it was his/her time one way or another.

Wasn't anything left of rabbit when we checked later...not sure if it was her or crows that finished it off. Bagpuss is just finding her feet at the mo...so i hope the things she brings home don't get any bigger!
What a shame April....there's nothing you can do for them though is there..i tended to rescue the shrews and voles that the other one brings home..remember rescuing one from her jaws literally and it came too as i was carrying it...not sure who was more shocked me or the vole!

Daughters cat brought a live crow through the cat flap last year, now that was a nightmare. The way I look at it, is, that its not "nice" but it is survival of the fitest and thankfully mine don't bring me home too many presents as they are too well fed and tend to sleep lots

well luckily shads hasn't brought anything home as yet. Penny brought a few field mice back but she was a hunter. Shads is too simple. Plus he's got a really loud bell on his collar. Then again, so did Penny so she must've just been damn good at it. Oh I tell a lie, he caught a fly on the window yesterday and ate it. But live animals, none as yet, although he is VERY interested. My cat Jo used to bring lots of birds and the odd squirrel home and tried to take my hamster outside once but that was rescued with no harm. Her catching animals outside was always a surprise though given that she was a fat lil bugger. Talking of crows killing/eating other animals, I saw one flying around with a small bird in it's beak the other day and that was a little upsetting cos it was still chirping

There was a huge cat fight by the sound of it this morning in a garden somewhere behind me. Checked to see where my lot were and found that Buster Puss was missing. He turned up 5 mins later with blood on his chin. Feeling very sorry for him, he had lots of fuss and TLC, then it dawned on me - no tufts of fur missing, no bites or scratches - he's is such a baby, reckon he fell off the fence in the scrabble to get away from the noise

lol JL Shads has got some mystery scars however, I believe some were inflicted when he's been play fighting with schmickles and I know she's got a few marks too. But hey, I know they're only playing because he pinned her down last night and proceeded to wash her. Aw bless!

Cats and fish .......
How come everytime I decide to make a tuna sandwich, I use 2 tins of tuna? I take my time getting the can opener out of the draw and have even used it underneath a tea towel to disguise the noise - so how come my 3 cats appear yowling from nowhere?

jlo, they just know. When you spring that can, the smell pings out and they just know. Supersensitive noses and the 'knowing'. Cats are mighty fine creatures.

One of my cats caught a baby sparrow this morning but it had a happy ending as he dropped it in OH's hand and it was released from an upstairs window a few minutes later shame about the bat last week and the three mice the week before I won't put bells on them as they soon learn to stalk silently bell or no bell, and I reckon it would be like inflicting tinitus on them

I thought that JL but I only put collars on mine really so I knew where they were. I was getting fed up of tripping over them because I couldn't hear where they were walking or where they'd gone.
They don't seem to bother about the bells much anymore either.

Had a bit of a worrying time with my Ginger cat Jinx, he's been under the weather for a week or so and the last couple of days has been avoiding everyone and hiding in the PT. Managed to corner him and OH took him to the vets this morning and it turns out he had a huge abcess near the base of his tail which has now burst. He's had a couple of antibiotic injections and is so much better already and has had a good feed for the first time in days. Vet reckons he must have lost a fight and got bitten when he was getting away and said that an abcess can sometimes take a couple of weeks to come to a head. Was worried sick, imaganing the worst

Thank goodness he's ok jlo. Nasty things abscesses. One of my former cats got bitten at the base of her tail and though successfully treated she was always sensitive there afterwards. Good thing he's got a watchful and caring owner

Many years ago, my Mum went off on holiday and left me to look after her precious Pussy. He jumped on the bed to wake me up one morning, and I looked up at him and wondered why he looked like the Elephant Man So, stupidly, I reached up to feel what it was, and a huge abcess on top of his head burst all over me and him!!! It looked awful, a great big hole in his head! But the vet just gave him a jab and said to keep washing it out with salt water and it healed up very quickly, thank goodness!

Jinx is making a speedy recovery though still rather tender and has been yowling for attention and eating for England ;D One of my other cats has had an abcess on his face NO and when they go they are awful and the smell is disgusting Thankfully Jinx was fine with the injections and was rubbing heads with the vet, he is such a tart ;D

Talking of tarts, when my cat colours had to go to the vets because she had a small cell cancer on her chest, she started purring when the vet stuck a thermometer up her bum. Floozy.
