I can't dispute that dogs smell having renamed mine the Pongster! The worst thing he ever did was to roll on a dead and rotting fish on the river bank. After driving home with all the windows open we gave him a bath but he smelt fishy for days. At lesat he didn't sit on the terrace last night and dismember a rodent like the neighbour's cat who now thinks I'm her mummy!
Hi WB Everytime I see this pic I find myself asking, "Is there only a four strand electric fence between that tiger and the rest of the world?" Please say that there is a much bigger fence than that as well! Something like the ones in Jurassic Park would be nice! ;D Spruance
lol Hi Spruance That pic was taken Tuesday @ WestMidlandsSafariPark. There was the electric fence and about 10feet between me and that tiger (plus the sanctuary of being in my car ) That was one pee'd off tiger. Just before that pic was taken he'd 'snarled' at a Daihatsu jeep (property of WMSP ... painted like a red tiger ... driven by a young man trying to look 'hard') and the tiger was going back for more. I just had to wind my window down for a clear picture

Hi CatherineEmma Thanks for the advice, by coincidence I have put them on a diet of Felix, Hills Science and the occasional chicken or coley treat and this seems to have cut down on the "wind" problem considerably!!! They are growing at a fantastic rate and Luka (my boy) is going to be huge. It is already a problem that when I am at the computer they both want to be on my lap and as there isn't really room they pile on top of each other squashing whoever is on the bottom (usually me!). After someone told me that Iams were suspect because of their research using animals I checked various websites and it turns out pretty much all of them including Hills are doing similar stuff so difficult to avoid. Rhoda what handsome cats you've got. Christiebhoy, took me some time to notice the 2nd h in your name. Thanks for those movables ( you cats that will go on the avatar list ) I nicked them for my home e-mail. Hope you don't mind. Couldn't help notice that the original name under which they were saved was Dutch. Where are you from? Dutchy ( fish lover )

I must find a piccy of Poppy to post for you. She went to the vet a while back with a fur problem and the vet diagnosed a mite which was making her fur fall out, but it looked more like dandruff to me. It was £15 for special treatment shampoo on top of the other charges! We had to bath her with baby shampoo and then the medical stuff went on for 10 minutes. And that happened every week! It was a nightmare procedure and the problem didn't clear up. Eventually I washed her with Head & Shoulders and the problem has vanished!

Our (well, my housemate's) cat is fed on whiskas meat with gravy pouches or the fish with jelly ones for a change. He is also given the dry food to keep him happy during the day. No wonder he's a fat bugger... His belly wobbles when he walks lol

Hi can another cat lover join in? I have two a moggie - ginger and white called Fred and a persian pedegree called Mindy. I've rescued them both. Fred is 7 and Minday (AKA"Madame") is about 2. We dont know anything about her. She arrived in the OH's Office looking very sorry for herself and had to be shaved to allow a new coat to grow through but she's beautifull now and spend all her time asleep on the sofa (hence "Madame"!!!)
Fred is a moggie but had bags of personality. He had an accident as a kitten and he had to have half his tail amputated but it hasn't stopped him at all and still goes up a 6' fence - no problem!
I had a tabby but he died last December at the ripe old age of 16 and my feisty black cat Shaggy sadly died of cancer in March last year - i still miss waking up to find him asleep on my head!!

I had a tortoiseshell called Dabs who had to be put to sleep in february because she was getting really doddery and started to smell funny.... She was a stray who decided to have me as her owner in 1999 so we had a her 7 years but no idea how old she was.

Hi RD
As promised at the start of this link I asked our local breeder about cough problems. Her opinion was that British Shorthairs are usually quite robust..being British cats and not from far away hot places. Her only comment really was that maybe when the kittens are allowed outdoors things may improve.
I hope yours have improved now and that they are at last able to go outside. Your latest picture is absolutely gorgeous and I can think of nothing better than being pinned down by the two of them ...!!

What a difference a day makes. We took our poorly cat to the vet yesterday morning. He had been eating old chicken from someones bin & had an infected sore throat. We struggled to get him in the basket, got to the vet in the car, OH got out with him & he burst the door open, raced accross the main road, 2 buses just missed him and over a 10 foot wall. We managed to catch him, couldnot quite believe he had survived. Today after a shot of anti biotic & a pill so far he is happily wandering round the garden. It will take me longer to get sorted.

I have always encouraged my cats use their baskets as beds, nice and cosy for them too, so they don't panic too much about going to the vets.

Hellooo all, i'm absolutely cat mad! Until recently we had 3 cats but Blackie died at aged 15 in September, still she had a good life. We still have her daughter Ziggy (my namesake) and another younger 2yo name Bagpuss (she came with that name) so i tend to call her Bagster. I had to smile at the incident with the cat basket, my cats used to get sooo stressed by it all and me too that we eventually bought leads....much better. Used to drive or walk to the vets no probs and Blackie used to sit quite the thing on a chair in the vets until she was called and would walk in. Vet wanted a pic of her to encourage others to use leads lol. It was amazing how many folk would stop and talk to me and fuss her whilst walking her t othe vets.....only prob was sometimes that she would take the urge to climb a wall usually when we were nearly home. It is defintely much less stressful all round with a lead

;D ;D ;D What happens when they decide to walk under a car and then just sit there looking at you .. Its a good idea really I must say, even if you tuck the cat under your arm and have the lead for emergency . Good advice thanks. Wx

Hello Willow, with the lead you can pull them out as it goes around their body (it's still a carry on but at least they can't dart out t'other side ( it did happen to me first time but you soon get wise). In the car it's better as if i'm on my own i pop the handle around the gear stick so when i open the door they can't make a dash for freedom...well they can but they soon run out of lead. ;D Funnily enough though they don't seem to try that the same because they're not as restricted and they're not as stressed. As you say you can carry them under the arm whilst having the lead to keep them safe. Latterly with the old timer i used to let her waddle for a while and then carry her for a while and she loved it.

I'm not..YUCK! Having lulled the poor pussums into a false sense of security 378 other rats suddenly appeared and dragged the poor little thing to their underground lair where they made mincemeat out of it for the festive season. (well they say if you see one rat there are hundreds of others close by).
NO! I wish I hadn't thought of that...the poor little puddy tat........
