Here's a pic of Smudge who's on the process of adopting us. We have undergone rigorous checks and we seem to be meeting with her approval. Smudge has been visiting for some time and sampling our menu, which we think she quite likes. She occasionally uses our B&B facility and has acquainted herself with our permanent resident Holly. On one visit to us she very kindly brought her family and has been introducing them to us. These are 'Fluff' and 'Scruff' whom we think are about 10 weeks old now. No pics of these as they are not 'user friendly' at the moment but they too are acquainting themselves with our faciliites. She is painfully thin, full of a cold (trip to vet's yesterday and pocket £30 lighter) but has become very, very loving. She's sat by me and snorting away something shocking. Needless to say I'm totally smitten. ;D She cant eat just now as she has an ulcer on her tongue and I'm more worried by this than the cold she has, as she is so thin. I've saved the best?/worst? bit till last - vet thinks she might be pregnant again I think someone must have 'turfed' her out when she was pregnant the first time and I could just not abandon her now. Wouldn't whatever. So, if she stays we will be delighted to have her (and any babies she might produce).

Shrub, cats know where they are wanted and will be looked after. I hope Smudge gets better soon, it can really take it out of them looking after kittens Our 3rd cat adopted us, she was only around 6 months old and we used to hear her wailing as her owner used to go away for days and leave her on her own. One of ours brought her home for dinner and she had to brave the 2 JR's. Her owner was spending more and more time away and knew where she was but didn't want her back, so she stayed and now rules the roost ;D She brings another friend in for breakfast but he's only a visitor and soon runs away when he gets caught

Awwwwwwwwwwww look at the cute pussy cat (goes all baby voiced)
Gawd I'd be in heaven if a cat turned up with kittens. OH would be livid ;D
As you know, I've had a few strays and they've all turned out great. I hope you have many happy years together!

Thankyou all for your blessings and feedback. I hope she stays. She is so gentle and following a very great initial wariness, very friendly and loving. She likes to follow me round the garden and will sit patiently waiting for a tickle whilst I weed, or plant or furtle with this or that. I do so want her to be well. If she is pregnant OH is adamant that we cannot keep the kittens but we shall see

Smudge update. She's still poorly and we're making sure she gets her antibiotics but she's still not eating (though her first born - well they're eating for England, Ireland, Scotland AND Wales!). She will lap cream though. I know this is far from ideal but it's laden with calories and she needs these, she's so thin and I think she's definitely pregnant - very rounded tum. She's getting even softer - likes to put her head against mine and likes to look me in the face whilst I tickle her.
OH is not coming round to the idea of more babies but he is a big softie really and if she chooses to have them here, I just know he wont be able to resist.

Goodness Shrub worse than having a lot of kids isnt it sometimes looking after your animals - I do hope she will get thru another pregnancy but then you have to think about having her spade (think that is same as for dogs) would she stand the op being so thin and then having more babies
Awh she sounds a poppet and so loving too

Yes jenny we'll have her 'done' when the time comes. Hope we can get her fattened up before then though. She really is off anything on a plate at the moment other than cream and I think she's getting fed up of that now. Obviously prefers her food 'fresh' We managed to rescue the poor mouse thank goodness.

Jlo, jenny and NO I think you're all right - re her adopting us. Not only did she turn up with the mouse (which OH managed to rescue) she later turned up with a huge rat Very decidedly dead though (thank god). She was quick marched out of the house. Goodness knows what she did with it, ate it probably. Gifts like that can be done without cant they? ;D

I hope she doesn't have second thoughts about your suitability for adoption, if you can't accept a valuable gift gracefully!!! ;D ;D

My cat dabs was one for catching food rather than eating it. She was a stray too but she eventually got out of the habit. Her thing was baby rabbits though.

Hi April, my mum had a cat like that. He was huge and thought nothing of bringing home rabbits on a regular basis, even a hare once! Smudge is very dainty and hopefully couldn't manage a rabbit.
Anyway success, she had some 'proper' food last night and this morning. Hope we're turning the corner. Fingers crossed.

How's Smudge now? If she has a rounded tummy there's a chance that she's not pregnant but has worms...has the vet checked for pregnancy? If she's semi-feral & eating mice, birds etc there's a chance she'd pick up worms....
Anyway, she is delightful, and is sooooooo lucky to have found you...hope that you'll all be very happy together ;D

Thanks CPB. Yes, the vet has seen her and says she could be pregnant. Some days she looks it and others not. A mystery at them moment but time will tell . No evidence of worms though it'd be very unlikely for not to have them as you rightly say, eating mice and rats etc. She and the kitties will get tablets for that on next trip to vet. Smudge gets her last antibiotic this morning. She's not struggling as much as she was but her chest still sounds 'boggy'. I think she will be ok though.

I remember looking after a neighbour's cat and every morning there was a "present" (dead) on my doorstep - I found it very touching - cruel of course - but a dog would never think of bringing you a present would it Goodness a Rat - she must be a very brave pussy cat or full of love for her new Mummy Wonder why they cant bring something like a Clem cutting or a plant in a pot ;D

Hi jenny, well Smudge is definitely preggers. Very large tummy now ;D She's settling more and is eating (from a bowl; still catching local wildlife though!) and putting a little bit of weight on, though still so slender. Still suffering with her cold - it's been vicious. Have you ever tried wiping a cat's nose? As I'm typing this, she's having a sneezing fit, poor thing. She's had two lots of antibiotics - hope these dont harm the babies. And she's so loving. I've realised, I'm the keeper of 'the food' in her eyes and she 'guards' me so that Holly, Fluff and Scruff get theirs after she does. So, not daft, our Smudge. I am wondering though, where she'll choose to have her kittens. She doesn't seem to be 'looking' for a place here. Time will tell. Managed to get a photo of Fluff and Scruff but it's not worth posting - too blurry. All you can see are two pairs of eyes. I'll have another go when they're in 'relaxed' mode.

Oh am so glad she is a lucky pussycat to have found you - you deserve a Medal for all your efforts as she seems to have one problem after another and now more babies
Is she wearing a tag on her collar with your name and address on in case she goes off somewhere to have them - I bet if she does she will bring them over to you one by one
You are going to be very busy I can see ;D

What a good idea re the collar and tag jenny. We haven't used them normally as where we live is 'off the beaten track' somewhat and our cats have never wandered (other than little Missy whom we did lose; and after that we made sure Holly wore a collar, though she's since managed to lose it : . I'm rambling. She's actually asleep now, with her head dangling over the edge of the table - look

I dont know how she got comfy like that. She had her paws tucked under. But we've had 'scratchy' moments too - mainly the sofa She does look quite plump doesn't she, but I guess it's because she's 'spreading' round her middle. When I stroke her, I can feel her spine and hip ones. Trying to get her weight up so that she copes better with the impending births and breast feeding.
