Aaawwwwww!!!! They're gorgeous, Shrub (and one's a tabby so no way were you not gonna keep them!!!) And has the black one still got blue eyes? They're big aren't they? Or is Mum small?? She must have given her all in feeding them, you can see in that photo that she's not as healthy as she looked in other pics. And she's preggers again!! Silly girl! Lucky girl, having you to look after her!!

They are lovely aren't they? The black one kind of blends into the back of the chair doesn't he (guessing at the sex as we still cant handle them)? But he's bigger and more assertive than the little tabby (so it's a she, in my book!). You can see how thin mum's face is in this pic. She's a medium size I'd say, though because she's thin she looks really long in the leg and very big in the belly area - for obvious reasons.
OH has come round to the idea of her having the kittens, though reluctantly. We'll just have to find good homes for them (fingers crossed).

They seem great jenny, thanks. Mum's getting so big in the belly area. I had a 'furtle' this morning and I could feel the babies moving. The little tabby (Little Duff) is allowing us to tickle her nose, and occasionally stroke her whilst she feeds. Fluff, her brother, just wont have anything to do with us. I'm hoping in time they'll get comfortable with us.
Mum still has her cold and thinks nothing of sneezing in my face, cos she likes to be up close and personal. Amazed I've not come down with cat flu! ;D

Well, got news. Mummy Smudge has had her babies. But not here. And we have no idea where. The guy with the barn down the lane, says he hasn't seen her about so they dont seem to be there. We're waiting for her to come back again so's we can follow her.

jenny, Smudge appeared yesterday with 'something' in her mouth. OH (who works from home) scared her by his reaction (he thought she'd brought a rat in) and she ran off. We haven't found whatever it was though I suspect it was a kitten.
She's here now. Sat by me. One of her favourite places. I've had a feel at her belly and I think she's still got a kitten there. The vet says this can happen. I've checked over my previous posts and I reckon she should still have another week or two to go before she gives birth. I'm beginning to think she's 'aborted' some. I'm wondering if this is because she's had such a bad dose of 'flu' and the babies have suffered as a result.
She seems fine in herself. Sad outcome for the babies though.

Oh so glad she is home - have you put a name tag on her in case someone finds her if she roams - best to get her "done" so she (and you ) dont have to go thru this again Bless Her she loves her new Mummy thats for sure - strange how cats do this isnt it ie adopt a home jenny x

Yes jenny, she's got a collar with a tag and as soon as she's ready she'll be at the vets for the necessary. She's still suffering with this damn cold though despite two lots of antibiotics. I know they wont touch a virus though! I dread to think what she would have been like without them.
Do you know, all our cats have been strays. And with the exception of one, have all been very loving. Just makes you want to love them all the more!

Hi Jenny, yes Smudge has had her babies. Other than the one I think she might have been trrying to bring home (OH frightened her off), we dont know where she had them. Sad to say, they wont have survived. I suspect that there was something wrong with them or she wouldn't have left them. She still has a shocking cold and I'm thinking that the babies were affected by the virus she has. Very sad.

Hi jenny,
Sad to say, Smudge's babies were never found.
On the 'up-side' though, she is recovering from this evil cold she had and is beginning at last to gain a little weight.
Her first litter of kittens have made their home here. Little tabby comes for tickles and has the most gorgeous deep throated purr. She makes me smile. Whilst her brother, only tolerates contact when he wants his food. He is a handsome boy though.
So, we're settling into a routine now. Soon be time for that trip to the vet - girlie surgery, and injections. What fun!

Sorry to hear about Smudges's kittens Shrub, through probably for the best in the long run, I hope she makes a full recovery now. How old is the female kitten ? its just that our cats mum was not quite 6 months old when she started staying out all night

Yes it was sad that they didn't make it. It would have been lovely to have had them for a while. Although, selfish I know, it means we now dont have to be finding homes for them. I reckon Fluff and Little Duff are about five or six months old jlo. So that trip to the vet has to be sorted. And mum has to be taken care of too. Oh dear, I've just realised how much this is going to cost!!! Although I think the RSPCA operate a scheme where they will pay for the costs of neutering and spaying if the animals were strays. Must check that out.

You're right about the RSPCA Shrub. My friend recently took in a puddy tat and she was given a voucher to have him 'done'.

Must make enquiries of the vet then Susie. Used to cost us a fortune when we had 5 cats - not so much in their early years but when they all started getting seriously aged, with thyroid problems, we were down the vets every month or so for repeat prescriptions. Wouldn't not have had them though. They brought such love with them. Sorry, I'm a big softie where cats are concerned. ;D

I hope it doesn't cost you a fortune Shrub then theres all the injections too. I do hope the RSPCA helps you out. Our female that adopted us has a chip and she is still registered to her original owner 4 doors away that left 2 years ago, we have the same problems every time we get flea/worming treatment from the vets, but she's worth it ;D

Well she is very 'loving' jenny ;D Both kitties are now 'tolerating' tickles. The little tab even sits by me when I'm using my lap top and likes to watch what's happening on the screen. So great progress. We must choose some proper names for them now.
