Hi Jilly I have started a regime of salads from Mon - Fri, accompanied by fruit tea ( no pudding or alcohol during the week) I like salads but it seems a bit cold to be starting today Still... I'm up for it

I love salad & have been eating it on & off all winter Auricula, but you're right about it being a bit hard to fancy when it's so cold. Have you tried Twinings fruit flavour Green Tea, very nice. I find ordinary fruit & herbal teas haven't got enough flavour for me.

No, it's a new one on me Jilly. I'll give it a try as I agree with you about the insipidness of most fruit teas

Green Tea is meant to be good for weight loss too, I don't believe all the fat busting hype, but if you're drinking that instead of coffee with milk (or in fact wine ) it can only help.

We had Cajun chicken last night & the rest tonight, if we can find a way of making sure that the rice doesn't go soggy. If not it may well be a packet of crisps

We had a bit of an experiment tonight. The boys wanted to try smoked salmon pasta so I found a recipe using philly light with chives and smoked salmon and tagliatelli. It was very nice but it needs some changes for next time as the sauce was too thick and although it said for 4 it obviously didn't include 2 teenage boys!

We had sweet and sour beef with roasted pepper and courgette rice. I'm on an economy drive, no waste - just had to find something quick to use up the beef. It was very nice actually

Oh nooo I wondered if crème fraiche would work I don't know if you can heat crème fraiche Jasmine - you can heat the ordinary creme fraiche but not the half fat one as it can split easily . I make a spring onion sauce by gently cooking a bunch of chopped spring onions in a small amount of butter ,then adding a small carton of creme fraiche ,seasoning then simmering gently for a couple of minutes

Thank you very much for that isabella. I'll try that next time we have it as the melted philly was quite 'thick' for a pasta sauce.

I've never got the hang of using Philly to make a decent sauce Jasmine, even though it does say it on all the packs I'm not surprised isabella was saying that the half fat creme fraiche splits when heated, I've yet to find half fat anything that heats well & believe me I've tried.

I was worried last night as the sauce was a tub of philly light, 2 tablespoons semi-skimmed milk and a tablespoon of lemon juice - was expecting everything to go horribly wrong at the lemon juice point!

Is everyone on a diet, or run out of ideas? I roasted a piece of ham with mustard and honey on it, let it go cold, so we had a ham salad, I made my own coleslaw with onions and cabbage from the lotty, I had to buy some carrots, and we had strawberrys and ice cream after, Oh I forgot to mention I made a jug of pimms with fruit and ice and we had that as well.
