This wonderful big flowered Dahlia was grown from a seed by Jenny. It has bloomed it's socks off and they last for ages. It's growing in a pot set into the border.

I bet she wishes she kept it too Ladygardener, it's gorgeous It looks to be a good size so hopefully even though it was from seed this year, you'll have a big enough tuber to save for next year.

Lovely Ladygardener, and well done you for getting them going from seed, I love them & usually manage to get a reduced box of them somewhere in the summer, but mine did get a bit nibbled this year.

Thanks very much Jilly mine got nibbled too and I did find them very difficult to grow. Of all the seeds I sowed, this one and perhaps one more which has'nt flowered are all I have to show for them. I'm going to bring it under cover/out back for the winter and try to keep it going.

Ta da - it's working this morning! It's amazing what keeps going even though the nights are quite cold now...although your litle garden seems to be a shade warmer than most!

It's fairly well sheltered up to a point Jasmine. Once things grow above the wall, the wind gets at them.

I rescued a pot of roses from Sainsbos a few weeks ago, but I cut all the old buds off as it wasn't happy to start with. There are four plants in the pot which will get separated & planted out when it is warm enough. It has sent up fresh buds and one has opened, lovely scent and stunning colour of flower which fades to peach & golden yellow as it matures

Lovely colour combinations there theinsidegardener, together with the Hebe and anemone as well. I took a couple of close ups of the Berberis Darwinii on the allotment today. The colour is so vibrant. It looks more yellow in the photos, but it is definitely orange.

The berberis is lovely bagpuss, what a gorgeous colour. I only bought a berberis (Rose Raket) for the first time this year but I'm really impressed, It really brightens up the garden.

I've just looked up that Berberis theinsidegardener,. It looks very nice indeed and by the sounds of it should provide a lot of interest throughout the year. Good choice.
