Hang on a mo - what was the first one, it's really cute! If you mean my first post from tonight it's a Primula, not sure which, I'll check if I have the label in the morning.

Hi Dutchy, it's Lycium or Duke of Argyll's Tea Tree, not really a common garden shrub. The flowers are lovely but they are quite small I'm afraid, similar size to a Jasmine flower.

Sorry dutchy, I luv it too. One of the problems with zooming in on the flowers is that it does make them look bigger than they really are.

In case anyone's interested I've managed to discover the name of my purple passion flower! It's Violacea, flowers June to Sept (mine's still going) needs a sheltered, sunny position and seems to be hardy as it says 'tidy in April' and protect young plant.....
I shall post this in 'Garden Chat' too as a lot of people were interested...
sooooo happy (the friend that bought it for me also bought herself one and kept the bag!) CPBxxx

Sorry dutchy, I luv it too. One of the problems with zooming in on the flowers is that it does make them look bigger than they really are. I realized I forgot to tell you it is not for me because it needs poor dry soil and is mostly suitable for coastal area's. I am on heavy clay. I would love a shrub that has purple flowers and bright orange berries later on.

Wesselton is pretty easy-going really Dutchy - it's a macropetala (group 1) so doesn't need pruning and will grow in any aspect. Mine is in the shelter of the garden wall so although strictly speaking it isn't in shade but it doesn't get much direct sunlight. My soil is acidic clay but I have added to it over the years. It will grow to about 2 or 2.5 metres and flowers April/May time, and I got a few flowers this autumn.
So what conditions have you got?

Your spot on Skarloey it is Splish Splash, Never grown it from seed. I bought 3 plants several years ago now, kept one and gave the other 2 to friends. 2 of us have terrible trouble keeping it going. My other friend has split hers the last 2 years and gives me a bit. Time will tell in the next few weeks or so if I've manage to keep it or not, it's in a pot so I don't forget it

Well at least that makes me feel a little better for killing mine then! ;D I really must get some more geraniums, I understand most of them work hard for much of the summer?

They are normally real do gooders and stayers Skarloey, I think Splish Splash must need lots of tlc to get establish although my friend has no problems
