Nooooo! The green strands are the petals and I think the pink bits become seeds. They certainly all drop out of the plant when the flower is finished. Think of most alliums - they have long strandy petals, and that's basically what the Hair Allium has, except that they are green and wild looking!!! ;D

They are quite small flowers btw - that picture is probably very slightly larger than the real thing, but the stems are about 1m tall. They don't stand out like a lot of alliums, but I think they are fab! ;D

It was supposed to be bright yellow like the other 4 in the packet, but this one's a freak and I love it!

I unfortunately placed them where they look not so fab so I have to rethink their place in the garden but they have done well. It is a pitty they don't flower for longer though.
