Just spotted this fella on the Potato tub hope you like him not sure if it may be a Damsel of some sort. good pic CA - certainly looks like a damsel... very sharp, a flighty subject and it gets a first nom from me found this in the PT, hovering - but also apparently nuzzling the flowers like a bee. I thought Hoverflies ate other flies? OM. for Carolanns Damsel from me OM my marigolds were covered in bees and hoverflies last year, all after the pollen? Tig A lovely photo Carolann and a deserved POTM from me as well. I do enjoy having Hoverflies in the garden, the larvae eat so many aphids. Pip

Have been wanting to post this little creature since we came back from our holiday. I have never seen a spider quite like it. He shared our pool area for 3 weeks. He fell in the pool one day and I thought he was going to need rescuing but he shot out of the pool vertically and back onto the side!

;D I hope so. Spiders being able to shoot vertically out of pools will upset most people. Nice shape it has like a little crab.

The spider was about the size of a thumb nail and the photo was taken in Florida! He was the most amazing colours - the photo doesn't do the colours justice.

Talking of spiders - I quite like the tiny ones (in the UK that is!) Those that are all clustered together in a 'nest' - like these Then you give them a little tickle, and Weeee Then they all cuddle back together again x Tig

I don't get anything nearly as exciting in my garden. Though I did have two damsel-flies playing leapfrog at the pond.

If you don't like spiders (big hairy ones, that is), don't scroll down This big bugger is in the corner of my garage. I spotted a big hoverfly mooching around in the corner and it inevitably got caught on the web. It even lost a wing in the ensuing struggle but Incy won in the end. FA x

Not strictly a "garden" critter but it is a macro shot so I thought it most appropriate for this thread. We caught this damsel fly whilst out on a walk this morning. FA x
