Same as last year, the garden is full of dragonflies at the mo... this one was sunbathing on the car aerial and though spooked initially by my poking a lens at it, flew round in a circle and obligingly posed: OM

Well done peeps! Wonderful shots, I just love the extra details you can see in macro (for me beyond what my eyes can normally pick up The intracacy of the the dragonfly wings is amazing OM! And I'm with you on the number of spiders in the garden at the moment Pam, every morning I seem to walk though webs then frantically brush them out of my hair x Tig

Obviously it is 'their' time of year .. spotted this darter on the garden bench at lunchtime ... ruddy sympetrum and I spotted lots of these hiding in nook and crannies around the garden .. Hoverflies were really busy and they love the Mexican sunflowers almost as much as I do x Tig x Tig

I had the same situation last week and wasn't able to take even one pic without it being blurred...well done... Obviously it is 'their' time of year .. spotted this darter on the garden bench at lunchtime ... ruddy sympetrum x Tig A here simply because I never get bored seeing the wonderful vibrant colour of Mex's...and it seems I am not alone... RF

Thanks RF - the Mex are the most vibrant colour in the garden (just hope I manage to save some seeds ) These are very popular with bees and hoverflies .. and so as not to disappoint anyone who has been missing my shield bugs - here are three cosied up on a geum leaf this morning ;D x Tig

I was thinking it was a Shield bug but it looks different to some I've seen. I realise there are loads of them, they like your garden Tig, thats a great pic.

Evidently it is a hairy shield bug, also known as a sloe bug (Dolycoris baccarum) .. like to get them right This one evidently likes roses x Tig
