I had a wander around before work and chopped back some of the umbrella grass that had got bent over, the rest I will leave till spring as it still looks pretty good after a frost and still gives me a degree of privacy Got plenty to do this weekend ;D

Been quite busy the last 10 days or so ;D
Gave the shed a good tidy out and put things in some sort of order. Sorted all the empty pot into sizes, put in a new shelf/ racking for all my clutter ;D Found a mouse hole in the side of the shed, the b@@gars had chewed through the wood, I leave the door open as well, little b@@gars.
Got all my polystyrene down from the roof space in the shed ready for lining some of the GH. Got the roll of bubble wrap that I use for the roof space in the GH out ready. Put some new gravel down in the bits either side of the GH slabs. Sorted out my seed trays with lids for young seedling to go into after the HP.
Started to organise the PK (poly kennel) ready for over winter.
General bits of tidying up the borders etc
;D Always something to do

I bought some dry rooted wallflowers for 79p yesterday - so they have been planted today, I have trimmed the grass around the edges of my two smaller veg plots, done a bit of weeding and general tidying up (raked leaves off the grass, swept paths, that sort of thing) Got really mucky ;D (I always feel like a naughty kid when my hands are black - my OH tells me off for not wearing gloves!)

Today i walked around my garden looked at my sweet chestnut tree and all the leaves are still green which is surprising as my stags horn sumachs have lost all their lovely red autumn leaves my acers are shredding their leaves too. I put my home made compost over my beds and left the worms to do the rest i pruned my Labrador Tea Bush as it had grown huge this year, also pruned my rambler roses and my choisia ended up with ten biodegradable bags full of prunings for the local council scheme. (i do not have enough room for any more composting facilities in my garden) my hands are stiff my back aches but boy do i feel good.

Had a lazy morning as it makes a change from having to work on a Saturday morning as has been the case for the last few weeks.
Mowed the lawn for the first time in three weeks, and had a general tidy up. Also began to dismantle the french bean canes.
Finished off with a strategic placement of extra prickly pyracantha offcuts in gaps beneath the hedge and fence, in yet another attempt to deter Poo-Cat's daily visits! ;D

Welcome annbess, it sounds like you've had a great day in the garden. Tig,I know what you mean, I start off gardening with gloves on but they last about 5 mins. I planted my tulip bulbs today, mixed doubles, planted them all in pots as I've so many bulbs coming up in the garden I did'nt want to disturb them. Gave the flower beds a general tidying and cut down a few sunflowers which were totally finished. Lots of seeds for the birds but they don't seem to be eating them!

He made out he didn't realise the weeds had gone through the hedge......must think I'm LNG, I wasn't being brave, just honest.....why should I clear up or compost his weeds? I would never think about doing something like that and I have enough weeds of my own ;D

well done Thecleaninglady, hope you enjoied the day that's a good amount of money to make from a plant sale. good luck for the hospital. Spruance, I thought it was too late in the year to mow but my lawn (small as it is)really needs a cut before winter I'll follow your example today and get out the mower. Sounds like you've had a busy day in the garden Dr B, are goosgogs the same as goosberries?

I've had a quiet day pottering around in the garden and PT. I sorted out all the seeds I was saving and have marked all the envelopes and only ended up with one packet of suprise seeds I moved my baby banana into the PT even though its still growing a new leaf and I planted some nerines that I brought back from a visit a couple of weeks ago, I know its a bit late but they are better off in the soil than leaving till next year. I emptied out the black dalek bins and added them to the main compost heap along with lots of cuttings and veg peelings there were lots of lovely worms Haven't put the mower away yet the grass is still growing

I feel as if I've got a lot of those niggly jobs done this weekend: Cleared out the end bit of the barn near the back door and moved my potting table and composts there - I'm fed up with worrying about rats whenever I pot up in the PT It doesn't sound much but it took me most of Saturday afternoon....today I potted up all the bulbs I've got waiting ready to go out next weekend, cleared and weeded out all the native plants in the little bed by the conservatory (where a few of the bulb pots are going), bagged up 7 big bags of fallen leaves for leaf mould, picked up a lot of manky San Marzano tomatoes from the ground in the PT and took the seeds out for drying for next year, collected some English Marigold head for seeds and also put a few of the Garlic Chives heads in a paper bag to dry off. That's a lot of little jobs off my list....now I've only got all the clearing up and digging in the veggie garden, the flower garden and the PT....but I think I'll have a rest next weekend - it's OH's 50th birthday then and he's having a party up the village........

Hi jlottie! Well, in a year when everything else has been really poor - the San Marzano toms have been fantastic! I have no idea how much they've yielded but it's been a humungous amount I would think. To my shame, I've actually wasted a lot as I just couldn't use them all despite bottling them and giving masses away...I would recommend them to anyone. I've never grown them before either - I'm definitely doing them every year from now on - I made TONS of pasta sauce and pizza topping with them this summer, maybe nor quite so many plants though......(10 at least I planted this year)

I potted up my pots ready for when the patio is finished... I underplanted loads of bulbs and then topped them off with a few heathers and something that I lost the nametag to...it's quite pretty and has lots of soft red berries. I also potted up some flatter pots with just miniture daffs, Will go back out tomorrow to plants the bulbs that are left into the garden.

Well, I awoke this morning to sun and a clear blue sky, so I planned a whole day in the garden. ;D But it was not to be My wee mammy wasn't feeling so good, so I stayed in to sit with her. Then about noon she felt better, so out I went to get started. Only to have my daughter to arrive hours earlier than had been planned. At least I got my narcissus bulbs planted. Not complaining, where would I be without my family, but a day off would be nice ;D

Bulbs planting I did that too. The tulips are all in now. Both in my own and MssK's garden.
Got soaking wet and cold out there so I will probably be sniffing the rest of the week, never mind, the satisfaction of having all bulbs in.... yes.
