That's really disappointing Barbara but hold onto them. Sometimes they take longer to come up.

This isn't a problem as such it's just a bit odd . As I've not got central heating I keep all my seedlings on the spare room & kitchen windowsills. My usual process is get them germinated in the heated prop & then whip them out quick so they don't get leggy. This year with it being so cold, for so long, all my seedling are sitting around looking perfectly healthy but not growing at all , even the ones that have been pricked out. I've actually stopped sowing any more atm, as until this lot are big enough to move out to the mini GH I won't have any more space. Jillyx I'm noticing the same with mine Jilly, everything is so slow for me this year, I've put it down to the cold and lack of sun. Seems to be improving though so keep seeds handy ;D

None of my tithonia have germinated...I may sow some more.
Today pricked out the zinnia red spider, some of the tagettes, more cleome, astrantias, foxgloves....fabulous...
In the CF I found something nice...about 3 years ago I sowed some daphne koreana seed ingritty compost with a top dressing of grit...left it to languish in the CF and now I appear to have germination! some trillium seeds were sown at about the same time so maybe they will decide to germinate as well...you never know.

That's a shame about your Tithonia, I've got 4 out of 4 but will sow some more as that's not going to be enough I don't think. Well done with your daphne seeds, 3 years must be some kind of record. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

Very well done Tig, can you tell me exactly how you did it please?

Well LG, you have to remember it isn't me, it's the seeds what do it ;D I have used modular seed trays (half size, 9 sections), I used seed and cutting compost as that is better draining and has fewer nutrients than the multi-purpose compost which I find is too much for some seeds. I soak the compost from the bottom with warm water and let it soak up, then tip out the excess water. Whilst the compost is still warm (not hot) I sow the seeds one per module and lightly cover with more compost (about a 1/16th of an inch, virtually surface sown but not quite). I have found that cleome germinate best when they get about 16 hours of darkness, so I have them in a room that I can draw the curtains early evening and open them about 9am, but you can cheat by covering them with an upturned gravel tray or similar. They also seem to prefer to have fluctuating temperatures to germinate, so I leave them on the floor overnight, they get heat from the central heating pipes for some of the time, then I put them on the windowsill, much cooler if it is overcast and quite warm if it is sunny. The compost has stayed moist since I sowed them, so no need for more water until they get growing. That is my method, it has worked for me both times I've sown them. I'm not an expert though, others may find different methods work for them Hope that helps x Tig

Today I've put my ipomoea 'heavenly blue', mina lobata 'jungle queen' and akebia quinata seeds in to soak for 24 hours before I sow them.
Tried sowing more kirengeshoma and tithonia seed, experimenting with using MP compost this time as the ones in seed compost did nowt.....

Soaking the seeds really seems to help...the akebia, mina lobata and ipomoea all had teeny little roots emerging through the seed cases.... ;D All sown now....got everything crossed....(hence funny walk....)

I've sowed some nemophila, out side into a small trough, I've put it against the house, in case it turns very cold.

I scattered some pink Nigella seeds today, and also some white ones. I'm hoping they'll like my garden this time - I haven't had much success with the white ones so far.
