Thanks for the piccie Jas, mine are just coming up, so at least another month I think before I get flowers. I'd be happy if they are a bit 'redder' than they show in the photo On 31/05/11 I sowed papaver miyabeanum, brimeura amethystina and lychnis viscaria (thanks to Auricula for sharing ), and today I have a little sea of baby lychnis Is it Staffordshire 1 Cornwall 0 x Tig

I was looking at the nastutiums yesterday and thought they were more brick red than pink. It'll be interesting to see what you think Tig. Mine are flowering their socks off now.

That's a shame Barbara I've sown some echium pininana today, I've tried one before and didn't do any good, fingers crossed for this lot (although I dunno where I'd put them if they do grow : I've also sown some ornamental cabbage - they should be easier x Tig

That's good Barbara I find Spring Onions to be very fussy. I had a bit of a sowing session last night, Thalictrum Blizzard, Aquelegia Milk & Honey and Melica Altissima. Then Thalictrum Delvyii white, Aquelegia Krystall and Linum Perenne (courtesy of Jasmine i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/kiss.gif ) They're all in the propagator. Then I did a pot full of mixed perennial Campanulas (a collection from Plant World Seeds) they're out in the Growhouse as they might not be up until next Spring. Jillyx

Sowed a few of the new seeds I got from T&M and some I already had. Aquilegia x hybrida 'Royal Purple' Penstemon barbatus 'Cambridge Mixture' Foxgloves mixed Aquilegia, giant something or other also sowed some seed I collected from my Hellebor Niger I've grown Thalictrum from seed before Jilly, courtesy of RF some 3 yrs ago. I love them, have you grown them before as I found mine slow to mature and they were only big enough to plant out this year. I do tend to like to get plants well established before planting them out though ;D

I sowed Geum Blazing Sunset today. Ooooh Jasmine have you got some sowing instructions for Geum, I've got a seed head off a plant I bought a few weeks ago that I'd like to sow I have! It said sow now or in autumn. Sow onto compost and then sprinkle with a very small amount of compost or vermiculite. Cover and keep at 15-20 degrees and would probably take 21-28 days to germinate. Thin out when big enough to handle. Likes sun or part shade.

Yes, the packet said that. Do you think I'd get away with sowing them direct, or should I sow them in trays in the g'house?

|
|
Post by Tig on Jun 14, 2011 19:47:30 GMT
I'd sow them direct, where I wanted them to flower. But I do take some right risks with seeds They self-seed and start to grow in Autumn naturally, so they should be fine. x Tig
