That's a lot of sowing you've done Jasmine. I must get my Dahlia sown next weekend and some more Cosmos too. My Cupani have germinated, happy days. This weekend I sowed more La Bamba Marigolds, some Catmint (many thanks Amber), and some veg seeds too.

Do folks have their seeds in a heated propagator or somewhere inside? I have no room in mine and will have to put any more I sow into the airing cupboard which is dark or the windowsill.

I have a heated propagator which takes one seed tray and it is in the workshop ( no leccy in greenhouse). The rest, I have in seed trays with plastic covers and they are just in the unheated greenhouse, if they're too cold it's tough cos OH won't let me have things indoors

Yesterday I sowed 3 lots of Pansies, trailing Lobelia (Blue Splash?), trailing (I think) Petunia, Nigella, Dierama (Angel's Fishing Rod), something else beginning with D, 4 colours of Gazania "Kiss", Geranium "Maverick"... I think that's it. Got more to sow but I wasn't feeling well so came inside for a lie down.

Last night I soaked my saved ricinus carmencita seeds, and some NZ purple I'd bought, they all swelled up and sank, so they are in individual pots now on the floor of the front bedroom, where the heating pipes run underneath x Tig

I need to soak the cyclamen seeds. I'll do that and sow the other seeds this weekend. Then I need to get on with the veggie ones...
I'm only sowing flower seeds with a view to doing my own borders and baskets again this year, with plants I've grown myself as I figured it might work out cheaper. Well, it should work out cheaper! I didn't spend £48 on flower seeds ;D

I always start mine on top of the boiler cabinet - it's very warm and cosy when the boiler is running. Bonnie likes to sleep against the cabinet and the seeds go on top! It's floor mounted.

Oh yes, I remember your boiler cabanet Jasmine. I've some near my boiler out in the covered back yard but I've also got 2 Dahlia and some Spider Lilly out there too so there's not a lot of room left already. Auricula, some of mine will have to take their chances out in the mini growhouse too.

All four of the erythrina crista galli seeds have germinated, and boy are they rampant!!!! Yesterday I spotted teeny weeny green bits in the michauxia campanuloides pot, I'm thrilled because they are supposed to be a right pain to germinate No sign of anything yet in the colocasia or kleinia pots though x Tig

Well it was over 20c in mine the other day Missy, good enough for germination but it dipped right down at night and I think the seeds like a constant heat. I'm not sure to be honest. I sowed some Begonia Go Go Sunny Side Up this morning. I've never tried them before but we'll see how it goes. I'm not sure my front room is hot enough for my seeds to germinate either.

I would say that a sunny window sill might be better at the moment Missy.

Most annuals need heat to germinate Missy, and won't tolerate temperatures dropping below 15c overnight, although there are exceptions, calendula, candytuft and sweet peas amongst them. Perennials appear to quite like fluctuating temperatures between day and night, and there are those that need a period of cold before they will even consider germinating - darned fussy things these seeds ;D Good luck everyone, it's an exciting time waiting for new 'babies' x Tig

The Gazanias have come up so far, but tha's probably because they're the only ones that I did correctly lol The others I forgot to put the propagator lid on/ covered the seed tray instead of allowing light in I was prodrome migraine last weekend so obviously got myself muddled before I went in for a lie down.

I've got signs of life in the ricinus pots, so the seed I saved from last year was viable you'll be glad to know PJ Must sort out the rest of what I'm sowing, although some stuff is going to have to go in late as I'm fast running out of space! x Tig
