The zinnia were keen, every one has germinated and has the first leaves already! All the purple cobea are in leaf, and I think that one of the white ones is germinating. I have a pot full of tithonias too No sign of the asarina yet though, or the other seeds I sowed at the same time. x Tig

Just sown my first seeds of the year - two packets of nasturtiams; cant go wrong with these you just sow them where they are to flower no feeding faffing or dead-heading needed really -SIMPLES

Oh my, the seeds I bought are quite a mix! The wildflower mix has 17 varieties, and the hummingbird and butterfly wildflower mix has 19 varieties! All of them have their scientific names, too! I think it's best if I just take photos if they grow! Some I know include cosmos, delphinium, phlox, marigold, chrysanthemum, dianthus and daisies. Each box is supposed to cover 100 square feet, but I am going to double plant, hoping to crowd out any weeds. . I am going to plant around the pond (that doesn't hold much water) and let everything grow wild in that area for this year. Both mixtures are, after all, wildflower mixtures.

Please post some pics when they are in flower bobbie I sowed some Mesembryanthemums - still have Sunflowers and Morning Glories to sow I will. I have never grown from seed before, so this seemed like a way to start. It has been so pleasant just sitting on the steps of the deck watering them in the morning, with the birds singing and the cool breeze and everything smelling so green! In the early evening as it is cooling off, it makes a nice rest at the end of the day as well. Our two dogs are getting used to the routine of "Mommy" gardening that they come out and watch. Husband hasn't made the plunge to enjoying the back yard yet. You are so lucky to be able to grow morning glories! They do not sell them here. Some of the varieties are actually outlawed as a noxious weed! They tend to invade the crops and are hard to remove there once established. When I was a child my Dad was stationed in Spain, and my Mom grew them in the planter on the patio. I fell in love with them. We have a front patio as well, on the north side of the house, very shady, with two more maples there. My hope is to plant something that will climb up the edges and run around the edges. Morning glory would be perfectly lovely there.

They did well for me last year, although I only grew the coriopsis, marigolds and sweet sultan. Still have the forget-me-nots, dahlias and phlox - but can't remember where I've put them! Should be OK still, they were 2012 I think x Tig
