Autumn can be a lovely time of the year, we often say that February and March are our best months of the year as we transition from one season to the other. of course you have good weather to look forward to as Spring blossoms and I shall look forward to seeing all those photos of flowers blooming and lambs skipping across open fields!

Lovely photos Roan ;D We've already got the lambs skipping here. And the big sign up along the road 'Fresh Dorset Lamb From This Field'. I'm not sure if all the numbers on them are to identify their mums and siblings or you choose which one you want I must admit, it's very, very good lamb and organic. ;D

Very tender and much tastier than regular lamb. He also gives us organic sweetcorn and polentta etc. he has his own organic flour mill here in Gisborne.

Your New Zealand lamb is good Roan, ~(UK has been swamped with it for years) but I'm sure it's even better to you than what we're sent here. I don't think it travels well and 'New' lamb is wonderful, especially when it's home grown! ;D ;D ;D Here's a tissue Plo! I'm just going to see what I have in the freezer for tomorrow......

Actually, one of my customers puts my name on a Two Tooth every once in a while, it goes to the works, then the butcher and we end up with roasts and chops etc. They are good eating and more flavour than lamb. The same with hogget. Even mutton is nice if cooked slowly, certainly the best flavour anyway!

Glad I took the leg out now. Very slow roasted on vegetables until it falls off the bone tomorrow me thinks. (It's from a friend who has a Hebridean flock up the road. ) Thank you Roan

(It's from a friend who has a Hebridean flock up the road. ) Thank you Roan We do all our roasts at 325F and they always turn out very tender and succulent. Oh, and we use a covered baking dish as well, so it is more like a camp oven. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! ;D

Well Roan of course I know it's an ivy leaved Pelargonium!! In the UK tho', if you call them Pelargoniums you have to explain yourself more often than not because a lot of people think of them as Geraniums and the only Pelargoniums, in their view, are the Regals. It's a quirk of the Brits, largely the fault of the trade over many years. Many GCs STILL insist on calling them Geraniums!! Quite enjoyed the spanking tho'!!! Here's something for you. (I haven't used the smilies much, they're fun aren't they!)

Pip, It's a yellow flowering cassia or Cassia obtusifolia. It flowers in the autumn and winter and comes from America originally. It is just coming into flower now and soon the whole tree will be covered in flowers! ;D Suparuthie, Thanks for the slap in the face I probably deserved it! ;D

Thank you Shrubrose, Rosefriend, Plocket and Pip for your nominations!
Dutchy, in everything we are approximately six months apart, so it is October here now, a walk in our Botanical gardens yesterday had us walking on a carpet of fallen leaves as Autumn showed its face. It is till quite warm though at the moment.
What is strange though, is to read that our English friends are having snow at a time of the year when we would be starting to head to the beach.
I think your April must be equivalent to our September so we get a longer summer than you do.
However, we will soon have colder days and nights and will have to start lighting our fires, while you will be enjoying warmer days and shorter nights and will be able to sit outside in the evening enjoying the fine weather.
As we go through our winter I shall enjoy joining in your summer on these pages which will be a reminder that our turn will soon come round again.

I love the Rose photo Roan. Looks almost like a painting with the "misty" background. Wish I could do backgrounds like that to my paintings!

I love the Rose photo Roan. Looks almost like a painting with the "misty" background. Wish I could do backgrounds like that to my paintings! The rose is tiny, only about 1 inch in diameter and grows in a pot. The background is Laserlite sheeting which has a tint and makes a perfect backdrop. I am sure you can do backgrounds like that, your artwork is superb!

Thanks Roan, but backgrounds are my downfall, particularly in any sort of paint!! I don't know much about painting, but couldn't you do a wash first to get your background, then paint over it, or am I just showing my ignorance?
