*Hijack*
Ruthie, wet your paper with a large brush and clear water, mix a large well of watercolour and wash over large brush, let dry and use for your pastels! That background is hardly a consistant, flat colour and the variations add character.

Tuesday 22nd April 2008 Fine, sunny day with little wind and temperature 18C There still a few flowers in the garden even though it is Autumn. Hopefully the weather will stay fine and warm for the next few days as ANZAC Day is coming up on Friday and I want it to be fine for the service. Not much fun standing out in the cold and wet, although we have done some years out of respect.

Really lovely Roan. Could you label them pretty please!! I'd love to know what you grow compared to us and whether we can do some of your more exotic looking in our warming climate!! What's the pink shrub and is the other pink a lobelia?

What's the pink shrub and is the other pink a lobelia? OK Amo here goes! 1. Yellow Flowering Cassia 2. Manuka Bush 3. Chrysanthemum 4. Chrysanthemum close up 5. Don't know what this one is called 6. A rose, but don't know its name Of course you can grow exotic plants, ours do very well even though we get the odd touch of frost in the winter!

That manuka bush looks lovely! Just looked it up and I don't hold out much hope for here. I do like honey though, that's probably why I liked it!!!

Sadly, I can't have any because I am Diabetic The bush is also know as the Tea Tree because its leaves were used to make tea by the early settlers. The Manuka also has many medicinal properties. We like the bush because it flowers most of the year. There are different varieties with different coloured flowers.

Wow Roan, that's a beautiful rose!! Near perfection in shape. (May have to save it and paint it). We were just walking home from the service when I saw it by chance and it looked at me and said "Take me please!" - Who could resist? I would be thrilled if you decided to paint it and look forward to seeing it when you do as I know you will make a lovely job of it.
