Oh April. I cannot imagine the day my OH wouldn't menton tea if i didn't prepare anything. Full cooked meal every night with plenty of meat and either potatoes, pasta or rice. He doesn't care about the veg but will eat what I put on his plate. If he didn't have any veg he wouldn't really notice as long as he had enough meat/potaoes etc!!! Well he knows where the food is kept if he wants anything!! He was probably snacking on stuff after I went to bed anyway. He can eat whatever he likes because he works it off on whatever round he's on. I work in the office at the moment though so don't burn it off like I did when I had my bugger of a round. I need to lose weight but I'll only forget to weigh myself so not joining in with the club but I'll be there in spirit... after the party tomorrow night lol I do the dishing up less for me thing too and I find I'm getting fuller quicker nowadays.

Had a bit of a prob Sunday night. Drank too much wine and that leads to eating anything I can get me hands on! Had to settle for digestive biccies 'cos there was nothing else and I did only have 2 (or was it 3). OK since tho............well it's been less than 24 hrs!!

Thanks Shrub. I'm quite laid back about it and won't give up. Tonight I've had spag bol and the secret is to serve it on a small plate. I only had 1/2 what I usually have but feel quite full ATM. (have had wine tho' I'm afraid, well there was 1/2 a bottle sitting there going off!)

Last night I had a BIG plate 'cos I had a huge salad, Icebrg, mixed leaves, tomatoes, sweet pepper, cucumber, red onion and carrot. With it I had a jacket potato, Feta cheese and a dressing made of 0% fat yoghurt with chopped up piquant baby chillies out of a jar! It was scrummy and took me so long to eat I felt really full afterwards. Tonight it's another jacket potato with salad and a tuna steak. OH will be joining in with this one. Last night he had a Tesco pasta bake, you know the 800g one meant for 2 people!! Last weigh in on fri before my holiday and I know I won't have reached my goal but I can get my "thin" jeans on and my "fat" ones are at the have to wear a belt stage!

Can I join in too? I actually started my regime about six weeks ago and did it by going to my doctor and having a chat. She hasn't said how much I should loose, although it should be a lot! And we had a really good talk about healthy foods and less healthy foods. She was brilliant to talk to because she didn't say I wasn't allowed things I love like chocolate or cheese, but said that I should have them in moderation. She also gave me a very useful list of good foods, ok foods, and foods to avoid - some of the things on the avoid list surprised me.
Anyway I went to see her again yesterday and she weighed me (I didn't look and didn't look the first time either!) and she said that I've lost 1/2 stone in six weeks. I was thrilled because I didn't think I'd lost anything!
Anyway I'm trying to do it slowly which was the doctors recommendation - by changing my diet sensibly but not crash dieting.

The more the merrier Plocket! United we stand and all that stuff. this thread has given me the incentive to carry on with a "diet" where I usually give up after a week. well done you. Slow weight loss is more likely to be long term than crash diets. (IMHO)

Oooooooooo you are all doing so well. I am trying to give up smoking so the nurse said not to worry about my weight I have cut down on bread, I dont eat potatoes much anyway and I am desperatley trying to leave off with the snacks. I think I might have lost a bit of weight, my "thin skirt" actually does up now! but I dont know how much because I have not weighed myself. Might do it this week. You lot keep it up and I will pop in from time to time to just keep an eye on you ;D ;D ;D

Great one Plocket!! As the title says, it's all about heaithy eating not DIETING! I hate that word! ;D ;D Perhaps you could share your lists from the doctor? I was amazed at some of the 'bad' guys too. One huge myth out of the water for me was lemon juice. Most people think it can help in a diet. Well it flavours water with less calories than a squash but it can inhibit the bodies ability to use it's own fat stores too. Well done too KL! I prefer the 'does it fi' scales too! I think most people do

Oh KL good luck with giving up smoking - it's a toughie but if you want to do it you will. Here's the food chart thingie if anyone wants it - I've saved it as large as possible so even if your computer shrinks it you should be able to save it and view it larger. I hope! If anyone would like me to e-mail it to them then just PM me your addy and I'll send it over.

It's quite a comprehensive list isn't it? We found it particularly useful when changing what we eat - we're more familure with what we should and shouldn't eat now, and most of it is common sense anyway. Here's a link to the sheet if anyone can't read mine btw: www.bhsoc.org/pdfs/Healthy_Eating_Diet_Sheet.pdf
