Yes, Tig, this board lark has a lot to answer for. I bought by proxy recently. A neighbour was off on a tour of specialist nurseries for a week. I gave her a list of seven plants to look out for, thinking she might find a couple. But she found five. Chaerophyllum hirsutum roseum Symphytum uplandicum variegatum Phlomis, the pink one Phlox 'Elizabeth Arden' And a pale lemon and cream Kniphofia. Paradise, and she bought me one of them for looking after her garden while she was away. ;D

Oh crumbs I bought some plants today but can't remember their names! A little purple and yellow aquilegia, a beautiful dark-leaved nasty with deep red flowers, and a bucket of strawberry plants so laden with flowers and unripe fruits that I couldn't pass it up at £3.99!!!

LOADS! ;D Forgive the spelling (that's before I start!)..... Hebe: Lady Ann x 3 Heuchera: Midnight Rose x 2 Heuchera: (purple/bronze leaf) x 1 Salvia nemerosa: Rugen x 2 Salvia nemerosa: East Friesland x 1 Sambucus nigra: Black Lace x 2 Syringa prestoniae: 'Royalty' x 1 Syringa patula: Miss Kim x 1 Weigela florida: 'Foliis Purpureis' x 2 All the above are destined for the long back border and these Dianthus: Strawberry x6 Dianthus ?, dark red x 4 Osteospermum: 'Sunny' x 3 for the west facing borders And finally, fuschia: ?, pink outer petals and purple inner x 2 for tubs on the patio. Also got 2 cow bells because I loved the sound they made and I think I might have bought an oak cupboard (if OH likes it!) For the dining room - not gardening I know but thought I'd mention it! ;D)

Erm... I've sort of come to a bit of a breather on the plant buying at the mo. Probably waiting for next lightbulb moment and to see what happens to the millions I've crammed in this year. But Amazon are pleased that I've raided their bookshelves. Christopher Lloyd's Gardening Year Christopher Lloyd's Succession Planting for Adventurous Gardeners Beth Chatto’s The Garden Notebook Beth Chatto’s The Dry Garden HRH’s The Garden at Highgrove The Good Gardens Guide RHS Pruning and Training Gardens of the National Trust The Naked Gardeners: Abbey House Gardens The Gardens of Europe: A Traveller's Guide And not a book but a winged weeder! I've also decided to use a bamboo as screening at the top of the garden and have been on the internet whilst waiting for the hospital to call. What a facinating thing bamboo is!!! Something for everywhere and all from a ring around the world below the equator. I've been all around the world today!! I was very restrained though and only bought a large Fargesia dracocephela.

By God, I was a skinflint compared to you lot. Wee and Plocket - I haven't had a splurge for ages (well since the last one a couple of weeks ago - but nothing for ages before that) and I thought time was getting on and I had to go for it - couldn't bear to go through another year with nothing to feast my eyes on! ;D And I have to do something to keep those damned weeds down, now dont I?

Ok. Would this sound really, really, really daft if I said to you lot that I have spent two days with Crocus discount code on a post it in front of me and I can't find anything I want to buy??? I've have tried, honest, but nothing is calling at the moment. Probably will the day after the code runs out.

Not daft at all Amo - I have the same challenge at times, even though I have a list of plants I want, but they weren't there And I have enough garden furniture for the space I have available, and you know when you visit a garden centre and somethings just shout at you (give me a good home ;D) - it doesn't happen for me on t'internet! x Tig

Actually I think you are quite lucky - I have a constant wish list at Crocus but just can't afford anything at the moment. Mind you I've not got room to put anything else at the moment either!!

Actually, when I went to Crocus yesterday with the code, I decided that I didn't want my wishlist anymore. Also, although the 20% code is great, the last code I had was with free P&P, which, at £5.95 makes quite a difference on just a few plants. There were only three I wanted. Also, I am getting to the stage where I'm having real difficulty finding space. Mostly because I had to find homes for plants that I had to dig up to make the veg plot. Things are becoming so crushed that my flowers aren't really being seen at their best. So, I think I must be more discerning for a while, till I get rid of some things in the winter. Didn't stop me buying a cute little black Viola yesterday PS, Don't have much lawn to remove either.

A big new Wilkinsons opened yesterday in Bordon and today I went in, just for a look, you understand cos I've never been in one. I was absolutely gobsmacked!! It's brought sooo many people into the town - I've never had to wait for a car-park space before, normally on a weekday it's only a quarter full!!!! Anyway, I was amazed at how much stuff they have, but relieved to see the bedding plants didn't look great so no temptation there! It was so crowded I had to get out but got caught in a people jam To distract myself from impending panic-attack I looked hard at the shelf next to me....... And it was full of lovely Clematis...and there was one I'd never seen before....and it was only £4.99.....and it looked gorgeous...... ...and I forgot the panic and took it to the checkout (even though I haven't really got space for it) Btw - it is Montana Marjorie, and if the label is to be believed it is a pale rusty-red colour and double-flowered!!! Looks fab!! and very different!

Are you telling us that spending money on Clematis is a cure for panic attacks? I'd test that one out again Nightowl, just to make sure. ;D

Oh dear, Garden Scheme opening today With a Plant Sale I go every year Trycirtus formosa Tropaeolum 'Ken Aslet' Phlomis italica An unnamed Iris sibirica with lavender flowers. I have it already, but just a few spikes. A little Water Aven, but with double flowers A white Streptocarpus. I had picked up the Trop. last year, when a woman said she had always wanted one. So had I, but let her have it. Must try to be kind. Didn't stop me from regretting my action, but when I saw one today, had anyone put their eye on it, I was ready to tell them to take a hike. Oh, it's a beauty. ;D
