Glad you sorted that one out Jasmine coz I've just been comparing my pic with Shadylady's pics and I have to confess I get totally lost with names anyway, but when they seem to have two or more I stand no chance at all ;D

There are several penstemons which appear to look the same and have 2 names ( if you see what I mean?! ) I had to go for my pre operation assessment yesterday and the hospital is near the National Trust garden at Trelissick,so we popped in for lunch........so........how did the penstemons apple blossom and white bedder find their way into my car boot?? spooky ;D ;D

Apple Blossom is one of the best, I think.

We had an Apple Blossom under our apple tree at our old house and it is one of the prettiest penstemons. It didn't seem to mind being in dappled shade all day and it really flourished.

Beautiful ... can't wait for mine to flower. Just to say that they are as easy from seed as from cutting; I sowed 'tubular bells purple' (http://www.mr-fothergills.co.uk/catalogue/product/2552-1/) earlier this year and now have three very healthy little plants ... cheers ...

How big were the plants that you ordered Auricula - mine were about 5" tall and I kept them in pots last year but they are doing really well this year. I just wondered about ordering now - as it's a bit later in the season I wondered whether the plants would be bigger. Like Crocus the plants travelled well as they were packed so well.

They varied between 4" and 6" high and were reasonably bushy for their size. I potted them into 3" or $2 pots and will keep them in my unheated greenhouse until spring.I am thinking of ordering a few more before it gets too late and then I will desist until 2009 ;D

Sounds as though you get the same size plant regardless of how early/late in the season you order. I always wonder what happens to the plants that get too big to sell/post. I could give some of them a very good home! ;D Think I will go ahead with my order as they have a hardy geranium that I have my eye on and a couple of veronicas!

I've just bought another penstemon. It's called Russian River. I've never heard the name before but it is a very rich purple colour.
