Does this one look like Sour Grapes? While I'm here, I'll share Blue Springs - almost florescent and very difficult to get a photo which shows the colour!

I can't answer your question Tig about the Sour Grapes but I'm sure someone will later on. I was lucky enough to be able to grow Blue Springs from seeds Jasmine shared with me one year but I moved it and it never appeared again. The colour is very special. Penstemons don't really do for me although I do have a nice little clump of Hidcote Pink this year, not a sign of any buds 'tho.

If it is sour grapes Tig then it is a cutting from the cutting that SR very kindly allowed me to have from Sissinghurst!

I did have a Sour Grapes a few years ago, but those two really harsh winters killed it off. I am mighty privileged now I have a tiny bit of Sissinghurst in my garden, thanks once again to Jas I did well with the Blue Springs seed Jasmine shared too. I had several and still have one survivor in the front borders. They seem to like slightly different conditions from the rest of my penstemons, I have to treat them similar to alpines.

Is that Angelface behind your penstemon Missy? The penstemon has the most amazing amount of flowers! I think it's the one with a slightly rude name! I might be going mad/have gone mad even but isn't the bottom picture a foxglove? It's lovely too!

Yes it is Angelface Jasmine, it has so many buds on it I have had to prop it up.... I have had another look and the only foxgloves that I have are pink and the second pic is of one of the flowers on the edge of the 'bunch'...maybe the Penstemons have been invaded

Cut the spent flower heads off Missy and you should get some more flower spikes!

Don't forget that Penstemons are easy to grow from seed, usually flowering in the year of sowing.
I grew Huskers red and lilac frost this year and both are doing well.
