Mine have only been out about a week MRH so I would leave yours a while longer. Mine were on the bedroom window sill before that. It's quite good having the window sill all clear again!

Sometimes little seedlings do better in smaller pots, I think their roots are warmer Mine have been out for weeks, but in a sheltered sunny spot (well sunny on the few occassions it has been out!) x Tig

My Blue Spring seedlings are doing well Jasmine. They got potted on at the beginning of june into a bigger container. They will need their own homes soon. They've been sitting sheltered on the windowledge since they were potted on. I now have about 12 healthy seedlings with about 6 leaves on them.

When I take cuttings from penstemons they stay outside all winter in a cold greenhouse they are very hardy, I would harden off in a cold frame and pot them on from there. Oh Dear I started reading from the bottom and worked up!! I didnt realise how fragile they are from seed i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/undecided.gif only one suggestion Do you think the pots may be to big?? sometimes they rot as they get too wet in bigger pots.

Never thought of that Maggy but they started off in much smaller pots, I pooted them into the bigger ones at the weekend.

I was on the look out for some penstemons to take cuttings from during our trip out yesterday but they only had a bed of the Icecream series penstemons which are quite blousy and there were far too many people around to be able to do it. So I had to be very good and honest. ;D

I've got strawberries and cream - coveted it for ages and then ordered 3 from Hayloft. Very cheesed off that no cuttings fell into my bag though.

I lost my apple blossom this winter. I've got penstemon garnet in the bed at the bottom of the garden and I've moved that 3 times since last autumn and it is flowering its socks off. I did promise it when I planted it last that I wouldn't move it again. ;D

Yours may have suffered from heat stroke Missy! Were they in full sun for part of the day? I have mine on the side of the house which goes into shade just after midday. So far so good, I'd be devastated if they died x Tig

I took cuttings from mine last year, I dont know its name ,( its dark red), any way it's a good job I did as the mummy plant has died. so do they not winter well,? and should I put them in the greenhouse? this winter.

Mine normally survive the winter Barbara but I did lose one following the bad winter we have just had (that is out of 10 so I suppose it isn't too bad). However, some penstemons do naturally only last a few years and there are others that just keep going on and on. They really do stand up to quite bad treatment usually.

Well after being away for a week I'm happy to say my little seedlings have survived. I'd watered them really well and left them in a really shady spot, they did'nt get sun at all and I'd asked a neighbour to give them a water but she only managed to do it twice so I'm really really happy. They were so parched today but they've been well watered now. ;D
