I guess after a stock take they realised they had far too many babies and so set up their offers! I'd rather have them now than buy small ones a few months down the line.

Me too - I ordered the ones from GW Magazine - 24 from T & M, they're supposed to be here by the end of the month, I wonder if they'll be tiny......heck, I even wonder if they'll be penstemons ;D ;D

;D I ordered them too. They will probably be the size of our little finger's last joint if the last T&M plug plant offer is anything to go by!

I've been very good this year and deadheaded mine - I usually resist because there are still flowers on the tops of the stems even though they are setting seed lower down, I find it very difficult to remove anything with a flower on it As so many survived last winter I also tried cutting them back, well some of them, must admit a degree of fear in case I did it too early and they just died on me anyway. Some of the stems I cut back were old growth, but on a whim I stuck them in the soil, no rooting powder or special prep - literally just stuck the stems into the ground. Astonishingly quite a lot have struck and some are even starting to flower! On other occasions I've tried various techniques to root cuttings with some losses and some success, I can't believe how many have taken from no effort whatsoever x Tig

Well done you Re. Unwins offer.............I didn't say I was buying them, I just thought I'd tell you all so you could buy them Your new penstemon is a pretty colour, I'm like you, slow to deadhead if they still have flowers, but I've been more ruthless this year and I think it has made a difference

I've got room to rehome any spares now ;D This is the one I rescued today, it is quite healthy looking for a reduced plant - it is one of those with a slight iridescence which doesn't photograph too well Carillo Purple Being short in stature (a bit like myself ), it is going to go in the front of my 'blue/purple' border x Tig

I'll certainly try Jas, though don't hold your breath - my cuttings are very hit and miss The Blue Spring cuttings I took just curled up and died - I should have pruned it and just stuck the bits in the soil x Tig

Thanks Tig! I'm not holding out much hope for the T&M penstemon plug plants (Garden Magazine thread). If they are as small as the last lot i.e. like the last joint of your little finger they aren't going to do much before summer is over.

They did say you could make alternative arrangements without specifying what they are. Anyway, I'd rather they looked after it over winter now. Little plants aren't going to get going enough in what little summer we have left
