I went shopping yesterday and it was so frustrating. Why aren't clothes sizes standard any more? How can I be small in one shop and large in another. I only had lunch in between honest So glad I don't go very often

They have a lee way (or however that's spelt, never had to type it before) of a few inches for each size so you can be a 12 in one shop and a 14 in another. I stopped shopping in those shops that made me a 14 ;D

This either cost extra to get alterered (especially if like me you can't sew) or ruin the look of them.

I really don't enjoy shopping for clothes when I have to take 3 different sizes into the changing rooms I've never been able to work out how a size 22 can cost the same as a size 8 either

I did the lottery with the same numbers every week for the first 4 or 5 years that it ran. I only ever won 1 tenner. Since then, I've not done it at all but still check it most weeks to see if I'd have won anything. So far, I wouldn't have won anything at all with those numbers so I've saved myself a fair bit of cash !
I occasionally have a lucky dip on the main Lotto and a scratch card but I rarely win anything (although I did have £100 on a scratchcard once).

I spent most of Saturday trying on shoes in many different shops - I had to ask to try on a size 3 1/2, a 4, a 4/12 and a 5 - I used to be a 4 but not anymore I can be anything - same with clothes although I always take into the changing room a 14 and feel quite joyous when I have to smirkingly ask if they have this in a smaller size please ;D ;D ;D
The assistant usually shoots me down in flames by saying "Oh yes they are generous sizes in this make Modom"

Trousers here, only seem to come in one length - very long - and always have to be altered. Most shops offer a alteration service - and some will alter while you wait, but it is a bit annoying to buy trousers and then have to wait for a week for them to be shortened. It is also annoying not to be able to buy trousers that come up to your waist, unless it´s in M&S, which I visit when UK (but I guess that´s more of an age thing!! so should perhaps be on the Feeling your Age thread!)

Sorry to interrupt ladies but I just wanted to have a whinge about mindless morons who vandalise things simply "for a laugh". We had a collapsed drain under the pavement outside next door's house. They've dug it up and filled it once and now it's been dug up again (which is another whinge but I won't do that one tonight !). It's all fenced off at the moment with roadworks signs etc round it. Some kids have just ridden past on their bikes and thought it would be "fun" to stop, kick all the fencing down, chuck the roadsigns into the hole and one into the road. Why ? What on earth can they get out of that ? They're just bloody mindless idiots and it annoys me IMMENSELY ! FA x PS - You can carry on talking about clothes now ladies.........

Just a thought going back to sizes - how on earth does someone design underwear that fits sizes 8 - 22 ( a very vivid imagination springs to mind lol)

First point, Mackays is good for sizes, I'm a good size smaller in there! Second point, which is my whinge. Why does every hedge on both sides of my house seem to belong to me? I am off to cut them before lunch, and I hate that job

I hate clothes shopping. I am only 4ft 10 1/2 tall so have difficulty finding a good range of clothes. When I was MUCH younger (and slimmer), I was able to buy from the children's section. But age and 2 children have put paid to that. I find that many of the 'Petite' ranges are designed for 'old ladies' (no offence to any older posters). I also only take a size 3 in a shoe, and they are often quite rare to find. Again, many size 3's are what I term 'Granny shoes', because they remind me of the sort my Grandmother used to wear. I once e-mailed Clark's Shoes about the lack of size 3's. Their reply included the line - "Over the past few years we've noticed a drop in the popularity of this size". As if you can change your shoe size to suit. It's not like changing your dress size by diet!

Rant all you want, cleaning lady. Though I envy your daintiness, I can imagine it must be very annoying. Especially when shops give that sort of reply. I'm annoyed for you now

I have the opposite problem, TCL. I'm 5' 9" with a 34 inch leg measurement, and I'm sick of being directed to the men's department for trousers! Who are these 'average' people that fit into shop clothes? ;D

I left B&Q yesterday evening and they didn't even get me a bloody card! Now I remember why I wanted to leave there! Got my leaving do on saturday so we'll see if a card or something materialises then. Sounds silly but I've always put in for collections and cards etc when others have gone and I've arranged them myself when any staff from my department left. I only want a card...
