I was cutting some of mine back at the weekend LG & noticed that they've got hollow stems, sort of like Delphiniums, so I think the cuttings would have to be from the base. I do know though that even the smallest piece with some root will take, I'm for ever accidentally pulling bits of mine when I'm weeding & just shoving them back in where ever theres a gap.

Well , not cutting as such, but I suppose they could be classed as , but erm no,anyway, I was sat minding my own business in the garden and I noticed 3 little Eyriginum(sp) I tried to dig them out but didn't get all of the root, just some, anyway I've potted them up and, I'm crossing my fingers.

Thanks Jilly, I've taken 2 more cuttings from as near the base as I can but could'nt get roots unless I tip the whole thing out. Since it's only just settling in I don't want to do that. You never know, maybe when it get's planted in the garden it will self seed. ;D Barbara, fingers crossed for your Eyringium, I love them. Last years has made it though the winter but as yet has only 3 little leaves on it. The 3 I bought some time ago are growing well.

Oh it will definitely self seed LG, i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif after years of trying to grow them from bought seed & not getting anything I gave in a bought a plant. From that one plant I now have a garden full & all my family have got gardens full too. The trick is to leave them completely alone & don't cut them back at all until you see the new growth in the Spring, conveniently the seedlings are purple so you can tell what they are. Good luck with the Eryngium Barbara, I bought one for the first time this year. Jillyx

Thanks for that advice Jilly, Unfortunately I think I lost my Verbena Rigida over the winter as I'd cut it back and it's not surfaced.

Thanks Barbara, trouble with self seeding in my garden is that there is'nt much spare ground at all for the little seedlings to germinate in. Everything is packed in tightly.

You'll probably find Verbena Bonariensis in your pots LG, they love a nice pot or cracks in paving.

Remember my Verbena cuttings that I popped into water? 1 of them has little roots growing from it and they're both alive. ;D The ones I stuck into some vermiculite and compost are still alive too.

I've taken loads of cuttings of my apricot wallflower, I had to ditch the main plant as it had got so straggly. I also took some more Daphne cuttings, more out of hope than expectation.

Nothing to loose Jilly. As so many folk on here have said they like it, I've several cuttings of Lithodora on the go. It's not looking good 'tho. I've had to dispose of 2 already. ::)I'll keep trying.

Had to post a piccie of these. These were 3 little rose cuttings that RF sent over with MRH. There were 6 but 3 didn't make it through the winter. These 3 are doing so well though and now I can't wait to see what I've got - they are either Jasmina or Abigaile.

Do you mean the perennial wallflower Jilly? If so, they root quite easily from cuttings ...good luck

Thanks LG - I'm so excited that they seem to be working. I keep checking the buds every day to see if the petals are pink or white with pink on the edges but I can't tell yet.

Sometimes they can look one colour and another when they come out. Patience is required.

Well done Jas, I was just admiring RF's photo of Abigaile in the gallery!! She is a stunner! I've cut down my ancient rosemary today and struck loads of cutting from the new growth at the tips - hopefully at least one of them will root I also managed to 'prune' a piece off one of the baby heliotropes as I was cutting down the tulip stems , so that is in a pot of water now. If anyone need to get more impatiens going just snip a couple of bits off and stick them in an eggcupful of water (I broke some bits off my bargains the other week and have loads of rooted little extras now ;D), also got quite a few toms on the go after removing some of the larger side shoots I'd missed - I hope to get a later crop from them. x Tig

I got a few extra toms that way too Tig and now they're making flowers. My rose that I've grown from a cutting which is about 2 years old now has got some buds on it this year. ;D I'm delighted.

I think they will be 3 the same as they were joined in bundles of 3 and went in 2 separate pots in 3's - if that makes sense If they work MRH and you would like one then one has your name on

I really don't know. I can see a hint of pink on the 2 left hand ones (don't think number 3 has buds at the moment). But I don't know if it is a solid pink like Jasmina or a tinge of pink like Abigaile. If I am googling right (they are both very tricky to track down here) then Abigaile is quite a small rose and I know from your photo that Jasmina is a climber....none the wiser really ;D
