Well, I managed to get my camera to work long enough to have a go at these and by the end, I had nearly perfected the "shine torch at subject, try and focus camera, switch torch off, take photo" technique....... ;D They're not as good as some of the others on here but I actually think Tig has hit on a great idea for taking some really interesting pictures and I'll be carrying on taking some next year when I have more in flower (and when my camera is fixed so that it works when I want it to, not when it bloody well feels like it - I'm sure it's a teenager...... ;D). Thats a cracker lng I got the better results at dusk - just before the light has completely gone. After dark the flash from my camera illuminated more than just the flower or other subject matter and it almost looked like a daylight shot

That one has the edge for me too. I reckon these flashy shots really bring out the true colour of the subject or is it my imagination

Yesterday I was browsing through my photos from my last visit to Trinidad earlier this year and saw this "flashy" one I had forgotten I had taken. It was actually late afternoon, but it was a bit in the shade so I needed to "flash it".

I haven't quite figured out yet how to single out one photo from a post that has multiple pics, but I love your pics carolann, and that first pic, the 2 white fuschias. That's a POTM for my vote. There you go TT, I've sent you a PM ............ Chuckles

That is beautiful TT (you were getting the flashy shots before me ;D) What is it? Tig My shot just kinda "happened" tig, because it was late afternoon and the tree was in a bit of shade. You're the one who deliberately got it going on the board, and now you've got everyone flashing. ;D I hear the local constabularies are having a field day. It's called the powder puff flower Calliandra haematocephala. There is also the pink variety Calliandra Schultzei "Rose Cascade" It's more like a small tree than a shrub.
