As the light was fading tonight I noticed a lovely silhouette of a passionflower at the top of the fence and hence this thread, once I start you know what I'm like I never thought about taking photos of flowers and outside stuff with the flash - it makes quite a difference - black backgrounds for a start! Here are the results of my quick flash around tonight - feel free to flash yourselves and add to them ;D I'll start with one taken without the flash at the same time as the others so you can see the difference - Passionflower (no flash) Passionflower with flash (as are all those which follow) .. Rudbeckia - you can see the velvety sheen on them .. Little Clem - type unknown .. Gentiana .. Gaillardia Goblin .. And this, sat in a tree watching a mad woman at dusk with camera

The best shots of blue flowers are taken in the dark with Flash, except Gentians which close up in the dark!

Hello Admin. Just flagging that my vote wasn't recorded correctly. My fault of course. I wanted to nominate that passion flower (flash) as a Photo of the Month No 1, but ended up doing it as a No. 2. So when you're counting can you please count it as a No. 1? it's a brilliant picture, I think.

As far as POTM 1 is concerned for the Passion Flower (Flash) - Fat Andy nominated the same picture before you thus making your nomination a POTM2. Ladynovicegardener has just nominated the same picture and it has now received a POTM3. The bird pic was also nomination by Fat Andy, once again making your nomination for the picture a POTM2. RF

Actually this is much harder than it looks unless it's down to the nocturnal limitations of my camera. After a mad ten minutes spotting with a torch and then taking numerous photos in near total darkness, I am left with just these two which are half passable. Perhaps not surprisngly, these were the only two in range of the IR security light, especially the red geranium which is directly beneath it in a hanging basket. If nothing else it will give the neighbours something to talk about. Chives:Red Geranium (zonal pelargonium).

more flashers!! I think they are great - thanks for having a go in the dark Maybe they work better at dusk because it confuses the digitial camera programming with the flash on and low light conditions I am using the macro function, flash open, on 'auto' so no special faffing with the manual modes (which I am still learning - probably never master them!) Three more taken at dusk tonight .. (it was just starting to rain) x Tig
