Here we are, Day Two and time for an early morning dip before breakfast. It's going to be another lovely day, the sun is shining and the temperature is climbing. After breakfast we are heading south and inland to visit Lake Waikaremoana. Make sure you've got your tramping boots with you as we will take a walk up Panekiri.

Breakfast - I think I will pass! Still full from my scallops, and my cossie is a bit tight already Can we have a boat trip around Lake Waikaremoana Roan? It looks beautiful, and then I can walk a few pounds off on our trek x Tig

Yes those scallops were lovely weren't they Tig. I was glad I had them although I had trouble deciding what to have from that lovely menu. I'm also glad I only had cereal for breakfast. Don't like to swim on a full stomach. I think, all in all, we're getting a lot of exercise today and the weather's beautiful

A boat trip round the lake sounds like a great idea! You can choose the sedate cabin cruiser or one of these We will be back at Aniwaniwa for lunch near these waterfalls And a look through the Visitor Centre nestled in the trees

I think 'sedate' is more my style these days - I might get stuck in that canoe Shall we launch - is everyone here? Are there enough seats, last count there are nine of us on this jolly jaunt ;D Those waterfalls, and lunch ~~~ devine

In a virtual reality world, anything is possible! There is also one waterfall you can walk behind. Oh and some nice local has said we can use his dinghy for a bit of a sail if we want.

Since this is a virtual trip, I'll try a canoe. Never done it before and am not good on water, but this is the time to have a go. But first, I'd like a flat white please to wake me up.

I'll have a go at a canoe but like Tig I might get stuck! Still we're all here to have fun so what the heck. And then I simply MUST have a go in the dinghy. There's nothing like sailing in a little wooden boat - I learned in a mirror class dinghy which my dad named after me in a round-about way, using my nickname. I should also point out that it's much nicer sailing in this sunny weather, than on chilly British lakes!!! ;D
I can't wait to walk behind the waterfalls too.....

Well, yesterday was a busy day, didn't even have time to update the diary! After all that excercise tramping and canoeing etc, we travelled back to the coast at Wairoa The streets were a bit crowded, but we were still able to have a look in the shops Then it was on to Morere Hot Springs for a well deserved dip in the hot pools Some of us chose the private pools where we could get back to nature and look out at the native bush Then it was back to Gisborne and a chance to rest before we went out for the evening TBC

Loved the walk behind the waterfall but shopping and hot pools is my perfect sort of day.

Shopping is not my thing but it was interesting to walk round. I loved the hot pools. Very relaxing. To Chuckles it was just a busman's holiday though, her having her own hot tub an' all.

When we arrived back in Gisborne there was still time for a wander up the main street to do a spot of souvenir hunting Then a casual meal Followed by a trip up Kaiti Hill to see the city at dusk Then a view of the Main Street after dark A few brave souls found a nightclub or two and didn't make it back to the Tardis until after 3am!

Why wouldn't they let me have that boat on top of the post It would've fitted in the tardis no trouble. No nightclubs for me, after that trip up Kaiti hill I was bushed (nothing to do with the bush Tig found herself in!) Lovely place where you live Roan and such lovely weather!

Day 3 The forecast is 24C with the possibility of a shower this afternoon. A cooler day so you should feel more comfortable. Still warm enough for an early morning dip though. After breakfast, a train trip has been organised on the WA165 All Aboard!! ;D

That was an enjoyable trip, it seems someone had a video of it! Today will be an R & R day in preparation for the BBQ tonight, so go and enjoy the sea, sand and surf! You may find a nice young fellow to show you how to surf the waves - we have some pretty good ones here! Tomorrow we are off to Eastwood Hills Arboretum for the day, so that should be fun! Picnic lunch too!

Well, I could pretend it's me but I'm not even keen on paddling in the sea so I won't! I'm very impressed though - how do they keep their balance?

Well, it's me actually. But I must say it's a long time ago as you will know having seen my current state. Now where's that lovely soft lounging chair. Best way I can think of to prepare for a BBQ (although not one I've ever tried before as I'm usually doing a mad rush round preparing for the BBQ!)
