Andy and Isabella I'd be slashing my wrists if I had that lot to prick out and pot on to you both. I hate chucking out seedlings, can't normally do it even with the sickly looking ones I always try and sow only a few seeds rather than on mass. This year however I'm being really really hard and I'm not messing about with anything sickly looking ;D Well chuffed with my Tig seedlings, got 2 now. Still only one Mimosa, I'd forgotten they were sensitive to the touch, always fascinated me as a child ;D

To tell you the truth chuckles, i do a bit each night and it only takes a few mins...i find it very theraputic !!!.
Watering everything is more of a problem as i need to either take stuff outside to water or move loads of things around into the gravel trays, let them drain then move it about again....it can be a bit tedious every night. It's not too bad in the greenhouse as i can throw water about all over the place but that's a big no-no in the conservatory.
Just got 11 more varieties of flower seedlings to prick out then onto the veg !!!

Has anyone got a piccie of echinacea seedlings? I think I might have some self-sown in the middle border and I don't want to 'weed' them out if they are I also seem to have quite a few mirabilis that have germinated! How'd they survive the winter then?? Sods law again. x Tig

Tig I have 1 seedling of Echinacea magic box which is really only a couple of leaves at the moment. I'll try to upload pics later today but there is'nt much to distinguish it from anything else at them moment.

Sorry it's not very good Tig (and LG is right - they could be almost anything at the moment ;D) but this is an echinacea magnus and the second set of leaves have the tiniest serrations round the edge.

Just tried to get a better shot but it didn't work! The second set of leaves also have very fine hairs on them.

Thank you sooooooooo much ladies I think I'm on a winner with these then (been out and taken a shot of me babes, think the big leaves front of shot are the mirabilis ) Wonder if they are magnus or white swan? Wish I'd sown some of my packet ones now! Fancy them surviving all through the winter, should be tough little echinaceas eh ;D x Tig

Blinking marvellous innit! If I had sowed them outside over winter do you think they would have survived and germinated? Probably not! Even a blurry photo is helpful Jas x Tig

I've had no luck this year either. Of all I've sown I think I've got one baby seedling. I really wanted them to make a statement in the borders this year.

My 4 tithonias are all doing OK atm. Perhaps you sowed them a bit early They seem to grow in fits and spurts, and are prone to the occassional sulk - they never seem to like too much heat when they are young, nor do they seem to like sitting in wet compost, fussy beggars these Mexican Sunflowers I think one of my gloriosa superba seeds is germinating x Tig

Just an update on my evergrowing 'nursery' These are the coriopsis, marigold tall scotch prize and sweet sultan seeds (left to right) hardening off in the coldframe Still in the big growhouse, the emilia which have dark blotches on the leaves behind them in the next tray the catanache alba and malope, behind them the sandersonia and the sea of nicotiana fragrant cloud In the pot and already reaching the tops of the canes the dolichos lab lab ruby moon, behind them on the compost are the morning glory and the pots of hordeum jubatum Must take a photo of the butterfly peas, mina lobata and various other 'toddlers' which are in the front bedroom, and the 'teenage' ricinus in the dining room (not much room for people in our house ) x Tig
