Anyway, to my selection.... ;D Can I stay on the Isle of Man Men please. It's just that native Harry from Silent Witness has promised to scavenge the rock pools with me for interesting historic artefacts...... After the melancholy of Roberta Flack, lovely as she is, I can't spend all my time brooding on this Island. So I have been debating over my two favourite hardcoreish dance tracks to lift my spirits. I'm going to go for Atlantic Ocean 'Waterfall'. This brings back happy memories for me [though probably not for OH's old neighbours!]. We have friends who are excellent DJ's and used to spend every weekend up til morning dancing our socks off in the lounge while they were on the decks. This one always gets me going, even now! Incase anyone is interested, here's a link: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hkQ3tf4unlEI'm goind to dance anyway. I'm in tribal dress, made of palm leaves and vines, and I'm dancing like a mad woman in the shallows...... Oops I think I scared the charming Harry off. Wonder if I can tempt him back with pancakes, maple syrup and icecream.........

And at no 7 - Aretha Franklin - I say a little prayer (listened to this before going on a breakfast date at 7:30am - caught the bus and met my husband to be!! Still went to my breakfast date thought with a Scottish bloke called Dougie Campbell 1969!)

Good choice Tig, I've got Aretha's Say a little prayer single which I must have bought at the time. Unfortunately it is scratched to pieces from being played on an old Dansette player. I can't choose eight records, but one of my favourites is the first track from "Dark Side of the Moon" Pink Floyd. I remember listening to it while in bed, pitch black and I wasn't on my own PJ

Far too hard to do a top 10 of music for me - but this is my most favorite piece and the added bonus of a photo of Jean Marc Barr ( I think) to look at too! I can quite easily come up with a top 10 Desserts though! BUT that will take a little thought! LLx

My No.6 is I was born to love you, by Queen. It's such a struggle to choose only one of their songs but I think this is it, for the moment ;D The song has so much passion, drama and fun - pure Freddy really!
Dessert? Crepe Suzette I think ;D
Island? Oh I don't know - the island I stopped on when yachting off the Greek Islands. It was small but had a hot spring on the beach - bliss!

OK, now my next two, and moving forward considerably from the 70s at last! Incidentally, I seem to be out of kilter with the rest of you having started at number one and working down, but to be honest, after Heroes the rest are in no particular order.
Two of my favourite rock bands, both of whom took the gtr/bass/drums format to a higher level just at a time when it seemed to be getting stale, and both these tracks totally blew my mind when I first heard them.
The tracks? - Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Muse "Muscle Museum"
Rock baby rock!

Well, 'Smells like Teen Spirit' is a classic! Have you ever listened to the album "Fire and Water" by Free? It doesn't have a weak track on it, in my opinion. I am a great fan of Paul Rodgers anyway, who has made great music since they disbanded. I think he works well with the remaining members of Queen, though I was very fond of Freddie.

I'm not going to try a top ten anymore, it's impossible for me. Might manage it for different genres, but not across the board Hell, even that would be too difficult. There is soooooooooo much great music to choose from. I love hearing all your choices though ;D

Hi Wee Have I heard of it? Are you joking? I think I have everything they did somewhere, in one format or another. Got the Free at the Beeb CDs a couple of months back - oh the memories!!!!! Saw Free, Peace and Bad Company at the Liverpool Stadium in their time (wondered round the back for a pee once and PR caught me at it!), and yes, he does a great job with Queen (saw that to at MEN) - as himself, not a Freddie impersonator (and anyway, Queen never were a one man band!)

There are some fantastic tracks chosen on here ! Snowowl, that is such a lovely version of that song. Eva Cassidy is another one who died tragically young. It's such a shame that someone with such a beautiful voice died before she was even famous !

You're right Slugger, about Queen, they could stand alone. I've seen both Brian May and Roger Taylor in individual gigs. Both great, especially Brian May for me because I like guitar best.

Ok pop pickers, in at number 8 on my all time top 10 is...... REM - "Nightswimming" I love Michael Stipe's voice and the album "Automatic for the People" would be in my top 10 album rundown (oooooh, now there's an idea for a thread....... ;D ). Most people rave about "Everybody Hurts" but I've always liked this better. I couldn't listen to the album for a few years because it reminded me of my ex-wife but eventually I succumbed and this sounded as good as ever. It also sounded fantastic when we saw REM perform live at Ipswich in 2005. Fab. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4kinoIv0DpIFA x
