.....Or your top ten music hits as suggested by Fat Andy.
Lists are just boring.....so you need to tell us why the musical number makes your top ten. Simple rules....
- You can only post one musical number at a time.
- You can only choose one song from each artist.
- You need to tell us why it is in your top ten.
- Possibly include a reference to a dessert of your choice? ;D
And don't worry about the timescale - The thread will still be open next year (although everyone will think you are weird contributing 8 months too late).
Now the only thing left for me is decide whether I will be posting musical Raspberry Pavlovas or Creme Brulees ;D

Nice one guys. To take up the issue on the other thread.....
Best Bowie track, and my number one of all time? Easy – Heroes.
As well as being a stunning and innovative performance, it came at a particularly happy time of my life – the few months before I got married in 1977.
If you can, check out the version on the Freddie Mercury Tribute gig, with Mick Ronson on guitar. Discovering this was one of the greatest moments of my life, and that includes my first you know what!

'River of Sorrow' by Anthony and the Johnsons. It is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Haunting, very sad, but lovely. Dessert? Creme Brulee Island? Somewhere remote and wild. Maybe one of the Shetland Isles.

By way of a short diversion, a few songs bubbling under (i.e. not actually in my top 10) but which deserve a special mention:
- Al Stewart – Year of the Cat (Best instrumental break EVER) - Richard Marx – Take this heart (Best short guitar solo) - Abba – Winner takes it all (Best pop song) - U2 – New years Day (Best live recording) - Deacon Blue – Real Gone Kid (Best performance on TOTP) - Gene Pitney – I’m Gonna Be Strong (First single I bought!) - Bowie – Time (Best backing guitar work, courtesy of Mick Ronson)

Perhaps we should have a subdivision of favourite Bowie tracks. Mine would be 'Man who sold the World' But not in my Top Ten. I don't like him that much. Though I admit he is excellent, I just have weird taste in music.

Hum. Well it depends on what mood I'm in but at the moment my fave track is Beale Street Blues sung by Otterley Patterson. I was introduced to it by my parents coz it's "their" song, so it makes me think of them, but Ms Patterson also has a wonderful voice, and it's great to sing along to.
As for dessert... probably chocolate mousse made by my mum. It's alcohfrolic and delicious ;D

One of my top ten would have to be
Van McCoy - The Hustle.
I'd just passed my A levels so it must have been around 1977 and I felt as free as a bird. And I'd discovered disco's and it was played all the time and I loved it. It was such a happy sound and so good to dance to.
Favourite dessert - blackcurrant cheesecake
Favourite island - Iona

Ok, firstly I would like to say that I was born in the (very) late 60's so I was just getting into music around the late 70's and early 80's. Most of my tracks are going to come from that era.
I was also a morose teenager (which probably explains why I'm a grumpy b*stard as an adult) so a lot of my tracks are going to be tracks that have a melancholy edge to them. I'm only happy when I'm miserable ;D
I've found it extremely difficult to narrow it down to just 10. I have about 578 "favourite" tracks, mainly depending on the depth of my grumpiness at the time !!
At number 10 on my top 10 countdown is.....
"Love will tear us apart" by Joy Division. Released in 1980, it was the first track that introduced me to that "electronic" synthesizer sound that I absolutely love. Powerful lyrics, made all the more poignant after singer Ian Curtis committed suicide shortly after it was released.
dessert depends on the time of year - at the moment it's blackberry & apple crumble with custard.
Island - I'll be watching whales with Jennywrenn off Vancouver Island.

Roberta Flack.....difficult to choose one....ummm To Love Somebody. She is the best female singer to walk the planet [well, it's a tie with Karen Carpenter]. I grew up listening to my mums album, and it was a perfect track to listen to on a dark night in front of the fire, alone with a bottle of wine, brooding. Not as a child obviously, but a few years later! Dessert....bananas and custard. ;D Island.......Isle of Man. As long as they are all as tasty as my pud.

Jean Genie - David Bowie 1972
Platform boots, under age drinking and a birthday, brilliant time. Funny it always seems to get air play round that time each year ;D
Dessert - ooh hard one, not a pudding person but a crepe with melted brie and a warm grape sauce.

First choice : er......um........er........oo..nah.....er........um........so many. OK I'll start with? ....no...hows about?......ooh but......what about?....maybe I should just choose one artist to start with. Starting with an early memory, listening to classical music with my Daddy as a youngster..I remember the Pearl Fishers' Duet (Puccini?) ...I think one of the singers was Yusi Bjorling. It made me cry when I was 8 years old and it still does as it's sooooo beautiful.
Dessert: Delia's chestnut-chocolate yule log....dribbledroolsmiley.

Okay in at No 10.…A surprise entry as it was going to be at No9
Not very politically correct to have a Jewish fella blacked up I know, but rag time, jazz and the blues propelled popular music forward towards our modern era. Unfortunately the guys who generally played such music found it impossible to gain mainstream access and so impressarios took on the mantle.
My Grandfather sang this song to my Mother on the occasion of her 16th birthday ….three days later he was dead having crazily dived from the viewing balcony at an old style public swimming baths missing the pool by several feet.
So a big hand for Al Jolson's Sweet Sixteen and possibly the oldest recording we may see……….?
Dessert? What we had as kids! Yorkshires drizzled with golden syrup.
Island? Marathi in the Dodecanese. Not heard of it? Good ;D

Capt C that link brought back some memories! Good that your mother could share it with you although it was quite sad My number 10 is Albatross - Fleetwood Mac- because my Mum loved it! Something we could share when she was in her mid fifties and I was 16, and a very troublesome teenager My favourite dessert - apple pie and fresh cream My favourtie island - Great Britain

I was 16, and a very troublesome teenager So not much change there then Tig - You may have hijacked one of my "real" Top ten ;D Stunning track, just needs a touch of Stevie Nicks Seen as we are talking about amazing music and birds (Albatross not Stevie) I'll chuck in a drop of Snowy White....animated with lots of J Parker Blue Roses ;D

My next choice is Days by Kirsty McColl. I love most of her music but this one in particular hits the spot with me. Memories stirred up by the song have changed over the years but these days it reminds me of a wonderful friend who means a great deal to me. Next dessert - hazelnut merangue filled with cream and home-grown raspberries ;D As for an island... I'm not that fussed, as long as there are rockpools on the beach
