It's in the hands of the PO that lost the one before so hopefully you'll get it tomorrow Ladygardener I could just stick some stamps on it as I know exactly what it costs to post but I was returning a parcel to Boden so I just let them deal with all the post.

Ahh, don't worry about sending on this months Jilly cos I bought it while I was waiting hours for my boys to play their game of golf. Does anyone want English Gardens or Garden Answers? I sort of wish I was going to Chelsea this year - there's so much on the centenary anniversary!

That's a good idea - EG costs £1.60 if I remember correctly

Garden Answers costs £1.20 and so does Gardening Which. Gardens Illustrated costs £1.60 so I guess EG would do too being big and glossy as well!

I get away with 1 large first class on all of them, apart from EG, until OH showed me the sellotape trick that Auricula uses, so now that just uses 1 large one too (I was mortified when poor Ladygardener had to pay excess postage)

What's the sellotape trick Jilly?
|
|
|
Post by Jilly on Apr 11, 2013 20:17:06 GMT
EG weighs the same as all the others Jasmine, it's just a bit wider, when you put it in a wider envelope, the width makes it a packet rather than a large letter. But if you fold the envelope tightly round it & sellotape it down firmly, it still just makes the width restriction for a large letter. If that makes sense.

Ahh, that makes perfect sense. I think that's what made me partly aware the time I sent you the wrong magazine - it wouldn't go in the envelope quite so easily!

I'd read that article Jasmine but I felt he did'nt really give any advice about gardening in wet conditions. I certainly have plenty of experience gardening in wet conditions but thankfully not waterlogged although I have several times thought about putting in some kind of marginals along the bottom of the garden where it meets the bottom border. It floods every time there's heavy rain and now it's flooding if we have any rain at all. Candelabra primroses might do well there but then it would be difficult to keep an edge to the so called lawn.

No, you're right Ladygardener, it was more along the lines of waterlogged/bog gardening. Those pink primroses that pop up in every article about bog gardening are so pretty!

It is interesting Jasmine 'tho that a few years ago everyone was talking about gardening in dry conditions. GW showed what plants we should be buying and growing to survive global warming. Now the water tables must be way above what they should be and after only a couple of showers I've got huge puddles in parts of the garden.

I have a kitchen awash with muddy paw prints so I know the water table is high!!! We used to get bombarded with articles on plants that could tolerate dry conditions - Geranium was right about the mags not dealing with the opposite end of the problem.
