Take no notice of Auricula Geranium, she likes the sight of her own voice... What causes shortages in times of strife is people stockpiling stuff in spare cans.

I fill up whenever I take the boys to school as we hit civilisation then...and petrol stations. I don't like either of the cars to get too low as we have a trek to the nearest petrol station and won't get there on fumes.

Oh, I do hope not! I think it's just one area where the tanker drivers are threatening a blockade at the moment.

Of course I didn't mean you FB I meant REALLY old boys......the ones who can hardly see over the steering wheel, have thick specs and wear a hat ;D ;D They are usually accompanied by BIG wives in the Hyacinth Bucket mould, who won't let the petrol guage swing off Full ;D ;D

We paid 62p a litre at the end of December - it came the next day ( we'd heard of shortages so we were pleasantly surprised)

Ours is generally quite good - it comes into Falmouth so the transportation costs are lower. Our old supplier gets theirs from Plymouth so it's dearer

We've just paid 68p a litre and it came very quickly. In between all the snow they were taking up to 3 weeks to do orders.

It's £129.9 here but if I fill up in Ipswich before or after work, it's £124.9. Bloody scandalous that it costs 5p a litre difference in the price between Tesco here and Tesco there. It's only 22 miles away. But there's a damn site more competition in Ipswich. FA x

We are lucky here as we have about 6 supermarkets, within about a 5 mile area,so they are all fighting for petrol trade ;D ASDA is mostly the cheapest

I filled up at Sainsburys yesterday and it's come down 1p to £126.9 a litre there. Just up the road near the boys' school there are 3 or 4 petrol stations all one after the other charging from £126.9 to £129.9 - folk go to the £129.9 garage

You're right FB. I suppose if you buy petrol on company expenses you might not mind what price it is OH would not give the expensive garage his money! I made a mistake in BP once and bought premium petrol - it was a ridiculous price compared to ordinary unleaded - I didn't share my little mistake with OH

The worst thing about the price of petrol is that they charge for the product, then they put the duty (a tax) on the cost of the product and then they charge VAT on the combined cost of the product plus the fuel duty. So in other words, they are charging tax on the tax. That's part of the reason why it is so expensive and if they wanted to reduce the price, all they have to do is only charge VAT on the product. Easy, but they'd never do it because it would cost too much.

It's 127.9 at the local Tesco, 125.9 at the local Shell garage (which is usually more expensive than Tesco!) and 125.9 at the ASDA a few miles away.

That's gone up by 2p hasn't it FB? Have all your other local garages put their prices up too?
