lol andy,. We...it is the national collection after all! Try Halls of Heddon, they are a bit more restrained, but have an excellent range of "porn"..ha...ha. . They usually win the top awards for their displays at Harrogate Flower Show in September. I have a soft spot for water lily varieties.....I particularly like collorette types..superb pollinators

I have never grown dahlias before. I was always put off by the need for lifting and storing over winter. I've been looking through these posts though and been persuaded I should have a go, at least on a small scale. There will be 3 each of the following: Collarette Pooh, Collarette Famoso, Topmix Red, Topmix Yellow, Bright Eyes.

You could always grow them from seed each year Ron and just treat them as annuals....i love the mixture 'Bishops children'

Seems obvious, doesn't it, but it didn't occur to me. Have to think about that for next year.

One benefit though of buying plants has been J Parker's free gifts. This is my third order, each with 8 cascading begonia tubers free, so I'll have 24 in all.

Also have some felicia seeds to plant in front, F bergeriana blue with yellow centres, and a similar variety with blue centres.

J Parkers are early with the dahlias, the collarettes have arrived already. Too soon to plant yet I'd have thought, even in the GH.

I may do that, Amber, but I've got two more lots to come, one from Cottage Garden and one from de Jager, so may as well wait for them and start them all at the same time.
