Lovely Clems ladies. It's interesting that The President looks different in each picture. I read somewhere it depens on the aspect that each Clem is growing in. My Hagley Hybrid has it's first flower open this morning. The heavy rain has brought it on.

You Niobe looks all ruffled Jilly - like it's just woken up! ;D Do you have Betty Corning growing up an obelisk or rambling through another plant?

Due to my lack of attention Jasmine Betty is growing in the huge pot in the back corner with the Tree Peony. I did have her in the border when I first got her but she wasn't doing very well so I dug her up & put her in a pot. At the time the Tree Peony was on the patio (are you with me so far i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif ), for want of somewhere to put Betty I just stood her pot in the Peony pot. She did very well but of course I wasn't paying attention & when I went to move her she'd rooted through the bottom of her pot & was firmly stuck. When I moved the Tree Peony pot to the bottom corner Betty went too, she seems perfectly happy but I can't give her any attention, so I just wait every year until she appears through the undergrowth. Some years she likes to go in one direction & ends up growing through Buff Beauty & others she changes her mind & ends up in the Acer. Jillyx

So it's a little surprise every year to see where she ends up Jilly. Another lovely Clematis Amber.

I think that's brilliant Jilly! Clems are funny things - they seem to do best when I forget about them and then suddenly realsie they're there!

Gorgeous clem Scarecrow - I'd like to know the name too please. Most of my Morrisons £1.79 clems have been brilliant Jilly. I just don't get why some of them just go flop. The President is at the top of its obelisk and the whole plant has flopped. Some of my reduced clems are doing well after being welded to the ground by ice in the GC and then Denny's Double, Franziska Maria and Dancing Queen that came from Thorncroft have taken ages to get going and are still a bit pathetic.

Jas - 'The President' does get wilt. I had one in my previous garden, and it did it every year. The one I have here collapsed last year. It's in flower atm, so I do hope it doesn't do a repeat! Here's the one in my large pot, growing with my Kalmia. It's called 'Boulevard'. I'm really pleased with it - it stays quite small, but repeat flowers from now until the autumn.

Boulevard is very pretty Geranium - is it one of the patio clems? I've got a few - Angelique, Parisienne and one I can't think of the name of at the moment - they are perfect for pots.

I'll have to report back later on that Geranium - Parisienne and Angelique were new last year and the one whose name I've forgotten was reduced at Wyevales in the autumn. I have to say that Not sure of the name is a stunning colour - nothing like its label...even nicer!

My first flowering clem this year...... Doctor Ruppel That is lovely Missy! Very nice indeedy Missy! I have looked for the patio clems in some of our local GCs and they don't stock them yet. They had them at Trentham but they are too expensive for me - unless any need rescuing later in the year I've got four different clems nearly open today, I resisted taking a photo - hopefully the flowers will be fuller tomorrow x Tig

I'm on the lookout for some patio clems but the GC that I went to didn't have any... I got Fleuri (the one who's name I couldn't remember) half price at Wyevales last autumn Missy - they turn up in unexpected places. Wyevales only had 2 Boulevard/Patio collection clems though.

You come and be one of the gang Auricula ;D
They are good doers Geranium. I was reading an old GW mag last night and it said the patio clems flower for 6 months non-stop.

I popped to the GC this afternoon as I had a voucher for a free jar of jam and they had a few patio clems. I was good although I liked Oh La La and the new one Abilene.
