Any thoughts on this, feel free to tell me I'm cherishing a weed (not the first time that has happened ). Came as a spare seedling with my SR order last year, pulled it out when it started to get a bit big and potted it on, just in case. Been there done that many times Jilly, one day I hope to get some wonderful plant for free. My first thought was Buttercup

Managed to get a fair few in the garden last year Jilly - the roots can go to China - good that it's in a tub!!

Thanks owdboggy, Chuckles, Rosefriend, good thing I checked before I planted it out . In my defence buttercups aren't a weed that I get (& I've got quite enough weeds without introducing a new one), so I didn't recognise it.

I am happy to share some of my buttercups with you Jilly! Rabbits don't like buttercups - in fact, they're not keen on many weeds. How ironic is that!

Great one Jilly, besides they do get pretty butter yellow flowers. And it is always better to at least try when you are uncertain. What if it had been something truly good that would have made us all green with envy....

I think this is a trillium! Not got a clue which one though as it is a while since I bought a mixed bare root collection - so pleased if it is, one is better than none!

Definitely a Trillium. May take a few more seasons to flower though.

Whooo hooo I can wait, it is was gardening is all about, being patient I wish I had kept the list of what was supposed to be in the collection, I might have been able to identify which one it is. The label doesn't help, it is just muddy.

I'm sure someone will be able to identify it when it flowers Tig.

I will see if I can take one in the morning before the sun gets on the bed, typically it is right in the middle of a wide border, which is probably why it survived, too difficult for me to get in and dig there Thanks RF.

Rosefriend I took this today, used the zoom on the camera. It has quite distinctive markings and leaf colour.

Trillium kurabayashii would be my guess, most often included in mixtures. Or perhaps a form of T. chloropetalum.

Olaf is also at the guessing point and says that he would post a pic on the Trillium Facebook group and ask there - he says it is one of this favourite groups there and has learnt a lot from them!! They must be good then Tig,!!

Has the label next to it really lost all writing?

Yes Dutchy, it is just mud spattered! I wrote in pencil and that label may not even be the one that marked the trillium!

I have had another look at the label, it can just make out trillium and it looks like the second bit ended in lum or tum

Choropetalum - that is "lum" anyway... Trillium cuneatum has those lovely markings on the leaves Tig, !! That's the "tum"!!! Hahahahaha!!

I know what this plant is, I grew it from seed, it's a hellebore But, it is nothing like its siblings! I think it must have crossed with another one - it is growing a bit like a palm at the moment. Does it look like heleborus foetidus to anyone else?

Easy enough to find out, put some rubber gloves on and crush a leaf. The smell is unmistakable. Gloves? Well you would not want your hands to smell of it and it does not wash off! It does look like H. foetidus to me though.
