Saw this while picking blackberries today Oh that's lovely Missredhead - must say that the blackberries that I have seen this year aren't the big fat juicy ones that we picked as kids...we bought some the other day - enormous ones, hard as iron, so perhaps the small ones are better.. RF

There are some amazing photos on this thread
This little Crab spider was busy with his prey but when it saw me dived behind a petal - I waited for it to come out again

Now is certainly the time for spiders isabella, I've seen quite a few in the garden recently and it'll soon be cold enough to see their webs in the mornings. Hopefully before I walk into them.

Are'nt the colours in this wonderful. It really is a lovely pic Ladygardener, well done - there have been so many insects this year and when I was clearing the GH there were spiders under the tubs that were all colours and enormous...I saw on the web somewhere that they are bigger this year due to the mild winter and will soon be coming in the houses as it gets colder....mmmh - no thanks!! Thanks for the nom Rosefriend, I had the camera out taking a pic of a butterfly when I spied it. I overheard yesterday some people talking about spiders being on the news but did'nt catch what was being said. I always have a little look around where I sit outside to make sure there are'nt any on the wall beside me, last night before I went to bed, I spied one almost on top of where I was sitting and you should have seen me move.

There was a lot of activity in the skies above me as I worked in the garden today, unfortunately they didn't want to land, too busy catching mozzies I hope! Then this one needed a rest in the sun just as I had the camera to hand

This handsome fella was on a Dahlia at the allotment yesterday. Not a bee but some kind of hover fly?

I'd been merrily digging away with the big fork for ages before I spotted this dragonfly just sitting on Pauls Scarlet - it must have been sunbathing

When I was cutting the buddleia back during the week this was sunbathing on the choisya sundance, think it is some sort of hover (and I have created a new pb account so this is a test run )
