Was that pun intended Rosefriend. That's a good reminder fozzie, I'll double check things I'm cutting back although I often leave them laying around for a day or two so that anything inside them has a chance to creep away.

Lots around today, hopefully they will keep the aphids down one the weather warms up. That's a lovely pic Tig, I was annoyed with myself the other day when I saw something small and black crawling towards me - so I trod on it...could only have been a spider....it was ladybird though.....!!

Thanks for the noms RF & LG, think the ladybird would be happy too. It was basking on the skeletal remains of a hydrangea flower LG, I was going to cut them off that is when I spotted it, I've left them for now

The result of encouraging butterflys and moths into the garden. I'm not sure where it came from but this was it this afternoon in one of the Stock. Tig or anyone else, do you know who it would have come from?

Could well be Tig thanks, I've now googled it and it looks just the same and I've seen them fluttering around. I do get more moths tho. I took this pic the other day, it sat beside me on the seat for ages.

I think it is a brown marmorated stink bug. They are an invasive species here, originating from asia but have been recorded across Northern Europe. A pest of fruit trees, not sure if they would be a tomato pest RF, perhaps a little research your end? Can't find if it is a notifiable species in Germany.

Latin name is Halyomorpha halys - if you do a search for that all sorts comes up about the potential damage they can do. I think you should dispatch it RF!

I am still looking Tig, - I do not think that it is a Stink Bug - well if it is, it's on a diet!! It isn't sort of fat - it is slim and bloody huuggee!! Plus it follows me about... I went to open the GH's today and suddenly it was on the side of one of the GH, - I ran (hahaha) back to get the camera and it had gone - turned around it was on the shed - sort of looking at me... Off it went but it is a weird thing - wonder if it is a baby - dunno - the legs are far longer than a normal shield big as well... First sighting of a bee fly for me Tig...good one, thanks...

That's the one Tig, horrible bugga isn't it, incredible markings though....it says on that link that it is harmless and.... " It is attracted to light and may enter buildings in search of hibernation sites in the autumn." Well the last thing I want is one of those in the house..I'll have to keep my eyes open - pines and conifers all around this area, none in my garden but nearby.
