Chuckles Tig Jasmine thanks very much, it's great we all appreciate her beauty I think. Thank you for the noms as well. I love how the new growth has that lovely red/bronze colour to it and the green leaves are lovely and shiny. Auricula what is wrong with yours, is it in the ground or in a pot?

Auricula Perhaps Rosefriend can help with some advice. Have you planted it nice and deep and have you fed it and cut it back before springtime?

It's looking great Chuckles I love that pot too. I'm amazed at how many buds mine have this year as a singer once said, "It's been a good year for the Roses"

It's looking great Chuckles I love that pot too. I'm amazed at how many buds mine have this year as a singer once said, "It's been a good year for the Roses" When we were at Olaf's on Saturday he was saying that for the growers it wasn't a "rose year" Ladygardener as there were all so late - end of June/beg of July and some roses are only in bud - virtually unknown, but there seem to be more buds on them all - to make up for them all being so late perhaps!! Yes you see Rosefriend I don't mind if they bloom mostly in July so long as the buds open and don't rot on me.Having said that one of my AF's has been blooming it's socks off since that first bud opened. Funny too how one of my AF is way ahead of the other one which is only really opening up now.

Funny too how one of my AF is way ahead of the other one which is only really opening up now. Unless a rose is ill or a waste of time to start with then the one thing that will make a change is where they are. I have had two of a particular variety and each time one was better than the other and it was the location. No rose can cope well with the wrong location or wrong care...even a couple of feet seem to make a difference at times. Mind you Ladygardener, great that you can have such a long season from the AF's when they don't flower at the same time.. My Angelface is doing well too; plenty of blooms and lots more to come So pleased Amber...not so often that a rose so healthy and full of blooms as AF, although the breeders are trying really hard these days to grow for health and not just blooms. Oh yes Rosefriend I'm not complaining at all, I'm delighted with both of them and love their shape this year in particular since I pruned them properly. Do they need a feed at all around this time, they're working so hard.

Yes Ladygardener - feed again but never after the end of July or the new stems won't harden up for winter and they will probably die..now is the right time.. RF

This is one of my Angelface taken yesterday or the day before. It's such a lovely Rose and I've told the girls the story of it. They think it's very cool that we all got to choose a name for it.

Well done Ladygardener and Tig - AF is looking a dream...roses know when you like them...laugh not!! FIL did everything possibly wrong with his roses and they were magnificient - when he got too old to look after the garden I took over and they never ever did well for me, even thought I knew the "right way"....he blamed me to the day he died that I had ruined his roses...!! Perhaps it's a Prince Charles thing - you gotta talk to them or whatever...hahah!! Whatever you both are doing it has worked!! RF
