Isn't it typical - we went up to John Lewis in Bristol this morning and while we were out, Andy came to sign us off as 'officially dry'. He removed the smelly carpet, thank goodness. He's coming back tomorrow, weather permitting, to take away the remaining machines. Richard came and left his tools and dustsheets ready to start work in the morning. He might have to ski down the hill if the forecast is right! Look what I've got - at last.

Problem - I wanted to use it to make a cake - but I haven't got the right ingredients...not until Thursday when (I hope) the Sainsbury order will come!

Make a different 'cake' then, I'm sure you can find something to chuck in it!! Large Yorkshire pudding? Glad things are moving on Geranium. Just wish the weather would buck it's ideas up, for all of us! x Tig

I've made a list of ingredients to make a Lemon Drizzle Cake, but it all depends on the state of the roads tomorrow - I do hope our shopping gets delivered! No Richard today, but OH is doing a little work on fitting skirting boards. I think he likes being involved! He loves DIY.

We've had some progress today - Richard came with a plumber, who took all the radiators off. Richard has been painting them all. We're hoping to see the floor people tomorrow evening. Our Sainsbury's order came, and I tried out my new mixer on an apple cake. The only problem was that it should have been baked in a loaf tin, and I don't appear to have any! Never mind - I put it in a square tin and it's just a different shape. Would anyone like a piece before it all goes?

I for one don't care what shape it is Geranium , especially as virtual cake has no calories

Haha - it's vanishing fast! Not only did we have two workmen in all day, but the floor people turned up at 6 o'clock, so they had some as well - at this rate, I'll be making a different cake today. Actually, it was wonderful - they worked really hard and all the preparations have been done to start sanding the two floors on Saturday. Richard is due back this morning, and with another full day's work, we'll see things looking better. I can't tell you what a pleaure it is to see the house getting its make-over.

It must be wonderful to see things finally moving forward Geranium & what a cunning plan to make sure that the builders always turn up, bribe them with cake

Ah lovely thanks. Good to hear things are making good progress and as for the bribe them into doing their best give them a bigger piece for working faster or they might slow down to more days at the nice house with cake

Think of all those calories - on the other hand, please don't. I enjoyed making the apple cake - a choccy one next, I think!

The noise was horrific today - three sanders going full blast from 8.30! They really did work hard, though, so they deserved a piece of choccie cake. It's going fast! There's about half of it left now. I went off out this afternoon to get away from the noise - and the floors are really looking good - they're coming back tomorrow to finish the dining room and sitting room. That leaves the garden room for next weekend.
