Thank you, Amber, You saw the house as it used to be - next time you come down, you can take a look at it in its new glory! I fully intend to throw out a lot of 'stuff' as it's a new start. The removal boxes will be used if I can persuade the firm to leave some.

Richard really got on with things yesterday - he painted the kitchen ceiling, the coat cupboard, and took up the stair carpet. Underneath it's original elm boards in some places, but there must have been a hole in the boards because someone has stapled a piece of metal across it. Fascinating! In the evening, Andy came to bring our sitting room rug and the loose covers back. OH will lay the rug on new underlay today. Richard will be painting the rest of the kitchen. It's going to be a difficult day, I think!

Thanks, Barbara and Amber. It's an awful long time since we had 'the flood' but at last there's an end in sight . Do you realise it was November 21st when it happened? Maybe Henry's leg will improve once he doesn't have to go up and downstairs any more. He's limping so badly - I hate seeing it.

:)Well, although we still have to unpack all the boxes, we have a carpet in the hall and on the stairs, sofas and cushons with clean covers, a table and chairs with their seat covers, and pictures on the walls. We still have to move all the glass, crockery and books back downstairs, and I'll need to do a mammoth washing up session before I put everything back where it came from, but I can heave a sigh of relief because our home is almost back. I'd like to thank everyone for all your sympathy and encouragement since we had the flood. It's been a tough few months and you've helped keep my spirits up. A group hug from me.

Our pleasure Geranium we can't have our geraniums wilting on us Treat it like eating an elephant.... a spoonful at a time and it'll be shipshape before you know it. Especially if you have a good clear out and chuck stuff away.. it'll be done even quicker Bonus....you won't have to worry about indoors and will be able to concentrate on the garden will you keep your gardener?

Yes, Auricula, I'm thinking of keeping her for the moment, as she doesn't mind which jobs she does - so she can do things that I hate doing, like weeding the gravel. We have some difficult decisions to make about some 'items'. It will be nice to be a little less cluttered, though. Henry seems much happier - after all, a soft carpet is much more comfortable to lie on than a hard concrete floor!

He hasn't been upstairs so much, which is good, because we had bad news at the vet's today. He has bad osteoarthritis in his leg and complications too, and is going on a different medication as from Monday, as the first two haven't worked. They may well try alternative therapies later - even acupuncture! I didn't know they did that for dogs.

Geranium it's interesting you say about Henry and Acupuncture, I know that the research done on dogs and acupuncture has been used as an example of how effective it can be.

Poor Henry I hope they find something that works for him. He does look very comfy lying there though, I expect he'll be glad to see an end to all the disruption too.

So pleased for you all Geranium, particularly Henry. He looks very chilled lying there and I reckon acupuncture may well give him some relief, does he take fish oil supplements? They work for my tired joints! This episode has been an adventure you could all have done without, lets hope that it never happens again.

He has so many meds, including Glucosamine and chondroitin, and yes, he's in pain. Some days he stands on three legs and the other paw is just touching the ground, not bearing any weight. We're going along with the vet's advice which is to try the new med for a month, then H. will get other therapies. I still think that now he doesn't have to go up and down the stairs umpteen times a day, he'll have less pain and we'll see a happier dog. You're so right, Tig, and the sooner we can get our proposed flood defences built, the happier I shall be!
