We had the nearest thing to a cooked meal that we have had for several days. I dug out a tiny electric oven which we used to use in the caravan. We used that to cook a Tesco steak pie which we enjoyed with a baked potato and some brocolli (microwave) with lots of butter. Delish.

It was a Tesco "Finest" range steak pie. It was very tasty. Not as good as home made of course (Mrs Bill makes a mean meat pie) but not bad under the circumstances.

Home made steak pie (of course) eeh you lot are a great source of inspiration when I can't think what to do next! The steak (rump) is diced doused in seasoned flour, and fried off with thinly sliced onion, celery and mushrooms...chucked in a bouquet garni made from herbs from the garden...now simmering sloooooowly in the oven in thick gravy-sauce. I shall make a suet crust later and we'll have roast tatties, cauliflower and carrots with it SLURP!
diet? what diet....(I shall go easy on the pastry and avoid the roast taters)

Pam Any room round your table this Christmas!! I have had the 'what are we having to eat at Christmas' discussion with the OH, neither of us are mad about Turkey (I personally perfer it cold). It looks like I may have made a rod for my own back by making a Gordon Ramsey recipe for Beef Wellington last year ....the OH is tempted by that again. Tonight we are having something that I have completely made up and as yet has no name!! Leeks and Carrots from the allotment, cooked with thyme, garlic, stock and chorizio sausage and a couple of chicken breasts!!!! I'm thinking it should be slightly Spanish, I'll let you know ;D

Hmmm, my partner is away for a couple of nights and I am extremely lazy when it comes to cooking. Sooooo, I thought I'd take inspiration from the "fav sandwich" thread and have a egg and salad cream sandwich for tea. Got the eggs out, checked the date, yep, best before 10th Nov but I've had eggs way past their BB date before, put them in to boil and hey presto at least one was rotten. MY GOD, THE STINK, it made the children feel ill , made me feel ill too, sooooo I threw the eggs into the flower bed thats just outside my kitchen door hope the smell doesn't kill too many innocent insects
