I think I'm too impatient shrub. ;D
We can get some gravel which is called stone to dust and is not too dear. (I think I have the OH talked round to that way of thinking) It is used to put on driveways before the gravel proper is laid, it sets quite hard and looks ok in a natural setting.
I thought about using bark but we have high winds sometimes and it tends to blow about a bit. I have used bark on the paths in between my veg beds and must admit I like the look of it.

Glad you've found a solution. Are you going to mirror the shape of the 'lake' with it or have parts of it wandering off and coming back, if you know what I mean?

Sounds nice shrubrose but I do enough wandering off as it is ! ;D I think it will just be around the pond with the bog plants near the waters edge and planting on the other side. Keith if you fancy a trip just shout, plenty of jobs to do db

Hi Keith, How are you doing? The fountain isn't solar powered sorry to say. The OG (that's what i call 'im indoors) is a wiz with all things electrical and we have wiring all over the place Snowowl, that is the thing you mentioned ;D A lot of the plants have died back now, but with all the rain we have had the pond is as ful as it gets. db

Hi all,
Sorry to have been AWOL for a long time. I have been trying to upload photos from photobucket and it's driving me MAD!!
Anyway, the pond is doing very well, as are the plants. I just wish I could post a pic or two.
We got round to doing the path at last! Ended up putting landscaping fabric down and then trailer loads of bark and it's looking fine.
Sorry to say that I didn't see GW Chuckles, I will keep a look out for that lovely plant though ,thanks.
(Sounds as though the beeb are playing silly b!!!!!s again.)
