Mine from this year have almost finished flowering now. I wouldn't grow 'Green Magic' again - it's not a gorgeous colour like yours, Jas. My two from last year are drying off in the greenhouse - I hope the cold won't kill them! I thought I'd start them off later this month...and hope I get flowers and not just leaves. The bulbs are big enough. I'm not always successful the second year though.

The Black Pearl and Violetta which I started after Christmas are doing a whole lot better than the spidery green and maroon one (forget its name) that I started before Christmas. I am hoping they'll all come back next year. Good luck with yours Geranium.

Can't remember pink and white I think. It was in Wyevale's sale Jasmine and they didn't have much choice

They had Red Lion at our Wyevales - think that was it! There's a lovely double white I'd like.......

Flower number 2 has just opened and the curl on the end of the stamens caught my eye!

Ohh, thanks for the noms ladies. I just liked the curly stamens - flower bud 1 didn't have them!!! Going to google your amaryllis Auricula! Just have - isn't it striking - you can see how it got its name with that white star shape surrounded by red!

Thanks for the nom RosefriendI guess you'll turn your heating down while you're away Auricula so that should slow it down a bit.

My Amaryllis came out, I did take some pics but the flash went off & they came out fuzzy. I thought never mind I'll take some at the weekend in daylight.... but, I had it on the landing windowsill (the only place with enough light to give it growing room). Last night there was an almighty crash & it had taken a topple down the stairs . Think OH managed to save it with his sellotape trick he did on my broken Tomato plant last summer, it's still alive this morning, it looks a bit like Quasimodo, but at least the flowers are intact (mostly). I'll take a pic at the weekend if it survives.

Oh what a shame Jilly. Hope it's ok. My Violette came out but it was nothing as vibrant as the picture on the box. I was quite disappointed.

Great that you got the flower Jilly and well done to OH for his surgery. Hopefully it'll survive long enough for you to enjoy the blooms. All I got from mine were new leaves which grow at an alarming rate so I've put them out in the covered back. Shame you were disappointed Jasmine but at least you did get a bloom.

The stem has flopped in half overnight with the weight of the remaining bloom. I've read that they never do as well after the first year - anyone had a success in the following years When you google Amaryllis Violette you get nothing interestingly!

Jasmine I'd googled it and it came up with Amaryllis Violetta and got wonderful looking blooms. That's the thing about them, the stem is so heavy, a bit like Hyacinth. Mine always need a bit of staking indoors.

Ohh, so you do Ladygardener! I must have spelled something wrong - I got a lot of clematis pics and some white amaryllis posted by someone called Violetta!

It's quite unusual in that the front of the petals are pink and the backs are cream which I think tones it down a little bit too much. Ah well, I won't be trying to bring that one back next year. I fancy a completely white one!

I was surprised yesterday when I was out in the covered back checking to see what needs watering when I saw one of the 2 I have (Naughty Girl) has a flower stalk poking up after 2 years of just growing leaves. Never give up.

To my utter astonishment, one of my Amaryllis bulbs which was drying out on the greenhouse shelf suddenly produced two flowering shoots! I potted it up and voila!
