Oh don't remind me Rosefriend, because of the time of year all the lovely people who came to see me when I was recovering from my op called in over the GC first & bought me a Poinsettia, if there's one plant that hates the conditions in my house it's them, I gave up buying them years ago. It was like a plant grave yard in the living room last week, I've moved them into the dining room, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Hahahaha Jilly - whether it is the house or me I don't know but I cannot for the life of me keep them alive - hate the things as well...especially the ones with glitter (poor things)...my neighbour still has them at Easter!! Last year she brought hers around and asked if I could put it in the house for a week - why says I - she said that she couldn't bin it unless it was dead !!!!!

It's beautiful maggy. Jenny got one in Sainsbury half price when we called in on our way back here after Christmas. She forgot to bring it home with her but she's coming up today and will take it with her when she goes back home. I'm not sure what colour it will be but it has a huge flower spike on it.

It shouldnt take long to flower then Ladygardener , there is two spikes on this one, probably when the main stem dies this will flower. It doesnt matter what colour it is really they are all lovely

I'd keep it as long as i could before letting it die down. Keep it watered and in a bright, frost free area and give it a half strength liquid feed every 2 weeks or so and i'm pretty sure it'll start to die back when it's ready. You can then stop feeding and reduce watering until died back. Start into growth in the autumn.

I don't feed mine ( cos I forget ) I just leave them in their pot, outside during the summer and they do their own thing come autumn. Sometimes mine never die back and then I cut the original leaves back when the new growth starts.
