I know these aren't black but I didn't know where else to put them - they are unusual after all! Clematis Fusca:

I've had a disappointnment with my black bed - a cramy yellow Arum lily has appeared - it was meant to be a black one! Some re-planting necessary I think!

Ooooh I love those! Where did you get yours and is it hardy? Sorry P - missed this I was given the Aeonium (lucky me!!), it isn't hardy - it spends the winter in the greenhouse (unheated greenhouse). At the moment I'm experimenting with a cutting....fingers crossed smiley!!

Oh please let me know how you get on. I saw them a few years ago in a garden, before they'd been planted, and pinched the label so I could get one in the future, but then found out that most were tender. I'd love to know how you get on. I'm not sure I have the indoor space to over-winter one though, even if it were grown in a pot.
Good luck with yours!

I'm sure you could keep one in your porch over winter - not that I'm encouraging you into a trip down the garden centre

Stunning plant Plocket! I must say I'm not a huge fan of oriental poppies but that one certainly has the wow factor!

Well like you I'm not really a great fan of fancy poppies, but because it was black I could hardly pass up the opportunity to grow some

Love the Black Paeony poppy Plocket and your Black Beauty Pansy and Nemophillia Pennie Black Lottie. Heres my blacks, think you've seen my Black Pansy before but took this yesterday and the Pansy really came out true black, well as black as I've seen. Now Plocket what do you think of this then, its the Black Knight Clem I bought a while back, I'm well pleased with it, although like your Paeony it's not so black when the sun is on it as you can see but in the shade its fab.

Chuckles, is your Black Pansy the same variety as Lottie's? Is it a trick of the light that yours looks so much blacker? Anyway they're both gorgeous, and so is your Clem, whatever it's called!

Great pic jlottie. Grew those last year. What are they again? They are nearly black sunflowers .... no seriously my little brother grows stuff by the field full and I get some of his left over seed and they are usually all surprises (check out my squash surprise thread on the trial board) . I haven't got a clue what they are called but although they won't win any prizes for height they are pretty amazing and the bees love them too ;D
