Ooh I've got a black scabious in the garden that's just starting to flower. I can't remember the exact name; I think it's something to do with chillies. Will take a pic tomorrow if I remember and find out the proper name too.
I love black flowers. They're so dramatic - I'm definately going to have to get some of those pansies, they're amazing.

Here's my black scabious - I checked the label and it's called 'Chile Black' , although it's not looking too black in this pic I'm afraid. I do have a pic where it's very black but it's awfully out of focus so I didn't post it. Oh what the hell, here's the fuzzy one just so you can see the colour - no laughing at my terrible photography skills!

Oooh that's pretty - I've seen the odd one in open gardens we've visited but even the more common ones don't seem too happy in my garden

THey're dead easy to grow Plocket. I've got pincushion ones that I haphazardly sowed last year and they went right through the winter and came back with a vengeance this year. I just hope the black ones do the same!

Well I grew some very sad pinky coloured ones a few years ago and they never came back Perhaps Sara's will be more successful

Oooh Karlslass there are lots of lovely things, but none are totally black. Here's some of the blacks I've got in my garden: black lily turf; geranium Midnight Reiter; Pennisetum Setaceum "Rubrum"; sambucus nigra "Black Lace" - that's all I can remember at the moment

Ok I know they aren't flowers, but the foliage is lovely! Here's some more I've got: Phormium "Platts Black"'; Heuchera "Obsidian"; Heuchera "Licourice"; black cow parsley (can't remember the latin but I'll look it up if you want it)

Thanks for that Plocket, I will bookmark this so that I can come back to it when ever we get round to doing the garden ! How do these dark plants do in shade?? I know the black prince lilies will be alright cos it sez no direct sunlight on the care label, but have'nt a clue about other things. The patch I am thinking of is in the shade nearly all day just getting the smallest touch of evening sun this time of year as the sun sinks lower. So its never going to really get blasted with sunlight and it is quite dry because of the bloody horrible laurel monstrosity. Is that suitable do you think???
