Knautia Macedonia Malva Magic Hollyhock Antwerp Mixed Hollyhocks Digitalis Camelot Cream
and a couple of weeks ago I sowed
Verbena bonariensis - not through yet. Evening Primrose - Sunset Buolevard Geranium wallichianum - Buxton's Blue Abuliton - seeds are not through yet
My next sowing action will be next week when I have found somewhere to put them.

;D where all at it aren't we ;D some lovely seeds being sown. Last chance for the Choc Soldier CC no seeds left now. Love the sound of your Choc Foxglove Bagpuss LNG why don't you put a HP on your wish list, wish I had two like CPB really, it's a bit like when you have/get a GH it's never big enough I've started to sow smaller quantities now so I can accomodate more varieties and I sow them in cells rather than pots too. You live and learn don't you, only got my HP last year and handn't really done much sowing prior to having it. yesterday I sowed Catananche Purple Daisy Type x 8 I've had to label them A,B,C etc and have only called them Daisy type because they are all Cone Flower-Echinacea or similar that have sort of fell into my pocket Delphiniums Purple & Purple White (Blue Fountain ? ?) Hollyhock ? Thalictrum ? pink/lilac colour Toad Lily - seeds from the plant I bought a while back, not a clue were I've put the mummy plant, I think I split it into 2 pots. Verbena ? Well what Verbena I haven't a clue, another pocket job and I can't remember where from Poppy Himalayan Blue Meconopsis I actually bought these

RF, Malva Magic Hollyhock is absolutely gorgeous and soooo easy - you'll be delighted with the results ;D Chuckles, really hope you have success with Meconopsis - I tried them this time last year and it was a resounding failure But I think that was down to the seed-sower ... cheers ...

Ooooh, I love sowing seeds ... just wish I had a bigger garden. Went into the library yesterday and somehow found myself in a garden shop ;D ;D Bought T&M's mixed (proper)geranium seeds (including 'splish splash'), perennial purple cornflower (too lazy to look up proper name) and Agastache 'Lavender Haze' (free with first two), and have just sown them in my new little propagator ;D ;D ;D Next up is marigolds (to be planted in between lettuce and tomatoes) and .... well, sure I'll think of something ;D ... cheers ...

I've roped my OH in to help me with the seeds - he writes all the labels etc and ticks my scrap of paper and the seed packet that they have been done....
Some of my seeds from the 11th are already coming through.... not bad for the kitchen windowsill.

Ummmm ... any tips on growing Lobelia from seed, Chuckles? I have a packet lying around, and wanted to do some for a flower pouch - but have never succeeded in the past ... cheers ... My first attempt at them CC, I've just used a 6 section tray like the ones you buy the plants in, almost filled it with MP compo then sprinkled the top with a 50/50 mix of course sand and compo, sown just a miniscule amount on the surface in each corner of each section. With 1750 teeny weeny seeds in the pack it really was just a very very gently tap of the packet in each corner, hopefully I'll have 24 little clumps come up. Then I've just covered the tray with a small prop lid and left them in the GH. They should be in 20-25c heat but I have no room in the HP so they will get put in there when I have room. Going on a bit of a wing and a pray really. I've always been put off growing them because of the fiddlyness you have with such small seeds and seedlings when it comes to potting them on. Thats my reason for doing 4 sowings in each section, hopefully not much fiddlying when it come to transplanting them, it says on the pack transplant them in bunches, well I hope I will have 4 bunches per section so no fiddling about, I can live in hope Jeez I;ve rattle on a bit hope that all makes sense ;D

I tried Primulas last year, but I wasn't very successful. There tiny, aren't they? I tried Viallii [mine were fothergills] , Japonica Millers Crimson, and Capitata Noverna deep blue, but didn't end up with a single plant. I think I killed the seedlings with neglect. Good luck Chuckles. I'm sure you will nurture yours far better than me.

Has anyone grown Cerinthe major purpurascens inside before?
How on earth do you stop them from shooting up. I have grown two lots - one upstairs where it isn't warm and one downstairs in the kitchen and they go barmy.

Hi RF ... they go barmy even outside in the mini-GH, so I can only imagine what they're like indoors! Since you probably want to slow down growth a little, what about moving the kitchen ones upstairs, and then - once the temp has warmed up a bit - putting them all in your mini-GH, with lots of fleece etc.? I haven't sown mine yet - still have to have a major mini-GH clear-out to make room ;D ... cheers ....

RF These are mine RF, sown 2/2 in HP, first one geminated after 5 days, potted them all up on 12/2 and put them inside a cold prop in the unheated GH, photo taken today. Not sure how they compare to yours

I have cerinthes popping up in the flower bed where they've self seeded...dunno if they'll survive the cold snap we've had tho. My autumn sown ones are in the CF and are very big.
Seedlings pricked out so far:- in 3" pots 7 pepino (now at 2nd leaf stage) 5 geranium F1 hybrid moulin rouge (2nd leaf stage) 7 dahlias 'Bishop's Children' (2nd leaf stage) 14 gerbera californian giants 8 Cosmos sonata lots of chrysanthemum snowland...pricked out into a seed tray.
Also germinated but not yet pricked out:-
Lobelia string of pearls Campanula puncata 'beetroot' Helenium thyme basil mix Trifolium rubens Coleus kong scarlet Cineraria silver dust Verbena compacta
I don't plan to prick anything else out for now...unless they get too big. I want to wait until mid March if I can. ;D

Here are my Cerinthe - sown on the 11/2 and not happy. The ones upstairs have given up the ghost already. However I have taken the kitchen lot upstairs as well - only other way is in the GH but they will not stand those temps I don't think. Sorry pic is a little blurred. RF

Yes I am afraid that it is probably the light - I can't do much about it really.
I haven't got any more seeds but will try again next year if these don't make it.
