The sooner they sort it out the better Jasmine. At least we were able to send Ruth and Tim the new rose named for the founder of the health service, Nye Bevan. I know she has her eye on a few others as well. We have quite a few both at my house and Jenny's but there are a couple more I'd like as well. Considering how cheaply you can buy good roses 'tho David Austin and Peter Beales are quite expensive indeed.

I followed the lady with the reduced labels round B&Q, all the fruit and veggies were down to 50p! I got some Autumn Bliss raspberry canes and a pot of deep pink cosmos. Then we had a mooch round Tates, the GC attached to Paradise Park and I got some pond plants, they had so much choice!

Jasmine how could I resist!!! I'd not seen it before, very similar flower to amistad. They had a shocking pink one too called s. salmia deep purple (but it was shocking pink), but I knew that would be too much to carry, only £3.99p each which I thought was a bargain.

That is a bargain Tig, I have Salvia Amante which is a gorgeous pink. I don't think I could have chosen - I would have had to balance one on my head!

Mum bought me a beautiful dahlia for my (late) birthday present - it is called Rhubarb and Custard - it came with a free caterpillar which is now eating other stuff.

I've been to the GG & bought the salvia salmia dark purple, which isn't purple it is bright pink. I spotted a space while walking round the garden yesterday, so justified my purchase

We've bought about half a dozen trays of Viola each with 6 plants in them, some metal trellis for my sister and a lovely little Eryngium "Magic Blue Globe", for the area opposite the kitchen window. We also bought some seeds for next year, 2 types of Zinnia, they grow really well here in Jenny's garden 'tho not in mine, Leek "Warwick F1" Cobaea "Cathedral Bells" and we're going to also try Melon "Emir F1" which has an AGM and the RHS say it is suitable for growing in a sunny spot outdoors 'tho we will grow it in the gh, and Cucumber "Beth Alpha" which is a mini variety. We also bought plant labels, clips, Orchid food and compost/bark and another container to repot one that Hannah has at home and needs repotting. We were shocked at how few plants and seeds they had for sale, all down to brexit unfortunately.

That's a shame Ladygardener I bought some daffodil and tulip bulbs from Wilkos and a fantastic store called Boundary Mill Outlet which sadly only appears to be in the Midlands and above.

The boundry mill we visit is in Oswaldtwistle Jasmine, the last time we went they were holding Christmas parties for the OAP's in the town. It's a dry start today but I don't think it will last . I found a link to Jacks footie club so we can watch some of his games online now. .

We called into Morrisons yesterday on the way for my injection. I got Clematis Mazury Crater Lake and 2 trays of violas. I love yellow and purple together and this year they are doing separate colours as well as their usual mixed colours trays - a real bargain!

That's a great price for your viola Jasmine. Ours were £3.99 for 6 but reduced to £1.99 for six and I was happy with that. I'd not heard of that Clematis but had a google, it's beautiful. In the discount store when we were up at my house, I bought 2 pks of Anemone De Caen and 2 pks of Ranunculus. By this time of the year we've usually put our order in to J.Parker Wholesale for our bulbs but they're no longer delivering to us over here. Thankfully Farmer Gracy are and the order for Jenny's Allium are on their way.

That's such a shame Ladygardener, I hope this gets sorted out quickly. My sister has got problems with taking her dogs to and from Spain now - a simple rabies passport and check before you leave Spain to come home isn't good enough anymore, it is going to cost a fortune.

Oh dear, that's not good Jasmine, is that to do with brexit too?. There was an article in one of my gardening magazines the other day and some of the big growers were interviewed and say it's not looking like they'll be delivering to households for the foreseeable future.

Yes it is Ladygardener, Becky said how much it was going to cost from now on and although I can't remember the exact amount it was hundreds of pounds for 2 dogs. That's not good news about deliveries.

I would always be happy to be the middle person Ladygardener if you wanted anything. I spent my Hayloft refund vouchers. I bought 2 sets of white summer bedding back in early summer - antirrhinums, cosmos and ammi but when they came they were so sad looking I sent pictures and got my money back. The plants actually did sort of ok but turned out to be pink except for the ammi! Anyway, the refund, plus a little extra got me Echinacea Prima Donna Rose, Aster x frikartii Monch and Osmanthus x burkwoodii.

Thank you Jasmine, that's very kind of you. The thing is that normally we'd order a couple of hundred spring bulbs, to pay postage on that with the weight of them would be a lot of money. Here in ROI when we buy seeds, (when we can get them) they cost more than back in the UK too 'tho the exchange rate certainly does'nt cover it at all. Hopefully the big garden centres will at least have more seeds next year. Lovely selection Jasmine. Jenny's allium and fritillaria arrived yesterday, I love how farmer gracy package their bulbs and plants, very impressive.

More import regulations come into force on 1st October, including goods from the Netherlands. Tighter processes will be in place for all imports & exports, and prices may shoot up as a consequence of all the red tape. Not sure how much it will cost as it is a maze of rules & regulations. More problems ahead I fear. Being as we've had dutch bulbs for so long (including Wilkinsons suppliers) this may be our last tulip & iris growing year at affordable prices.
