I must go buy my daff bulbs soon then..I'm looking for the dwarf ones for my pots...none of the ones in the garden flowered this year they all came up blind....
I've been looking for a moss pole for my cheese plant but none of the GCs seem to stock them..there's a Dobies about 30 mins away but they aren't answering the phone for me to check if they do them...

Thanks Jasmine..I'll go through them but they seem to be around 2feet tall and I need one at least 1.2 metres....I read somewhere that they can make them out of either plastic pipe and moss with twine or a pipe with jute twine.....I'll research a bit more I think...

I thought about making one too Missy. They were selling sphagnum moss at the GC yesterday and you could wrap it round a pole the right size and use florist wire to hold the moss in place. Probably cheaper than buying a ready made one. Yesterday I used some more of my vouchers to buy a couple of bird feeders, some peanuts and some meal worms. I also bought some pots of wallflowers.

It'll be lovely now you are back home and able to fill up the bird feeders Jasmine. I get such joy out of watching them flit around the garden.

I can't wait Ladygardener, I'm getting quite a lot of joy out of my 2 little fish. I was wondering yesterday if fish have characters because one is definitely greedy and confident and one is very timid.

In the 90s I had a 6' Monstera (cheese plant) I cant remember having a pole ?? I had to get rid of it as it was taking up too much room, so keep it small M.R.

So, we went to the GC after the school run, it was lovely to have a browse around 'tho we only looked at the plants and not any of the home stuff. Not a single bulb to be seen!!!!!!!!! I was shocked. Anyhow we did get the following, some for the beds and others for the big rockery border.
Hydrangea "Magic Candle" Another of the paniculata ones that we love, it's a really good size too.
Salvia with small leaves and deep purple flowers, very powerful scent. We have a similar one which has been blooming since springtime. It may be Ignition Fuchsia but it is bigger than what they advertise so I'm not sure.
Salvia "Amethist Lips" Dianthus "Purple Wedding" Dianthus " Pink Kisses"" Saponaria "Bressingham Pink Helianthimum "Wisley Pink" x 3 of these Sedum "Silver Rose" Lychnis Coronaria oculata group x2 Silene Uniflora "Druetts variegated" Brunera "Jack Frost"

Great list Ladygardener! Now you mention it the bulbs are usually in place by mid August, there are very few bulbs in the GC here yet.

I've finally got my Amelanchier Lamarckii and it's a good sized little tree. It also has a label in the pot saying 'Amelanchier Lamarckii' so even though it is from T&M it might be right!!!
I'm just wondering whether to do another Farmer G order, they are offering some good discounts at the minute....I don't want my order to get caught up in whatever is going to happen next though.

I wish I could help Ladygardener, but it was hard to find one here and Lord only knows what happened to the first one that T&M said had been dispatched but never turned up. You've got a good list of buys there! Look what we found in Lidl today... £1.79 a bag and they are good sized bulbs!

Excellent Jasmine, we bought some of ours in Lidl and some in the range as well and a few in home savers, we went in to each of them solely to look at their bulbs because one of Jenny's friends said they have them in stock. We've bought excellent bulbs from Lidl in the past, instant gratification and between them all we got what we wanted.

I like Stocks and Green Barbara , they often throw something in for free too! Lovely little business! Took the car down to Seaford for some warranty work and called into B&Q. I was rummaging in the seeds and someone came up and said they were reduced to 50p a packet, I got a few!

Missredhead, Jasmine, Ladygardener, Tig, maggy, Barbara, Rosefriend, Dutchy, AuriculaWell, when I put the receipts away from our little trip out today I discovered there had been a right mess up with the seeds. To cut a long story short, when we had been choosing our seeds the B&Q guy had joked (I think it was a joke) that we could have them all for £25. Alan went to try and sort it out when he took the courtesy car back and now we have this lot for £26... Goodness knows how many seed packets there must be - 1000??? What I will do is, when get back from my trip to London (I'm going up tomorrow for 2 days Ofsted training) I will make a list of what there is and if anyone wants anything I will send it to you.

These tomatoes are interesting looking! This sort tends to be mild - meaning that a cardboard box tastes better...but there are exceptions to every rule! There are some red and yellow pear tomatoes that are ok...
